After reading a bit on the truenas forums about the reliability of 9300-8i HBA cards when it comes to expanding systems to hold more drives than your motherboard provides SATA ports, I picked this up to test to see how easy it would be to integrate.I can say that this board integrated without a hitch. I managed to move my drives from the motherboard SATA ports over to the HBA using a SAS to SATA cable and truenas picked it up without any issue or reconfig.

Device wasn't able to sustain reads/writes for any amount of time. Logs throwing numerous errors. After a short period of time, the device removes itself from the pcie bus entirely. I tried 3 of these "same as" types. Went with the genuine LSI model and had zero issues. The specific device I got from this seller had trouble establishing a link at x8 PCIe width.

This Dual Port Mini SAS Adapter Card comes with a low-profile bracket ONLY in contrary to all the pictures that suggest adapter mounted with the full height bracket. The description indicates low-profile and that is all you get with this adapter.

I needed to rebuild my TrueNAS server to an 8 bay hot swappable case so I could expend my storage as I was quickly running out. I plugged this card up to the case's SFF 8087 back-plane and TrueNAS picked it right up, imported my pool, and I was up and running in less than a minute.

This is a new PCB make of the LSI 9211-8i SAS controller. The baord is a NEW design, with a better heat sink than the original LSI reference design did. The actual SAS2008 chip on the board is (probably) recycled, but everything else is new. They work great and take standard LSI/Broadcom firmware! Both I ordered arrived with IR (raid) firmware, but were easy enough to flash to IT mode.
