My residence is heated using a hydronic system, providing a pleasant and dry warmth. However, a downside to this method is the resulting dry air within the house. Despite trying numerous evaporative humidifiers, including the largest Venta unit, none were able to consistently maintain a comfortable humidity level. Currently, we operate five humidifiers throughout the home to regulate localized humidity, a task that requires constant refilling. This year, our household was heavily impacted by the flu, exacerbating the discomfort caused by the dry air. Surprisingly, I had overlooked the effectiveness of swamp coolers in adding humidity to the air. I can confidently say that my search for a solution has concluded, as this machine surpasses expectations. It achieved an impressive increase from 25% relative humidity to 65% within just one hour for the entire downstairs area. The positive impact on my family's breathing was immediately noticeable.Despite the name "cooler," the air emitted from the machine is only slightly cooler and not uncomfortably cold. Placing the device in front of a hot water radiator improved the air temperature and helped circulate warm air throughout the house. Initially, there was a peculiar odor, but adding a small amount of essential oil to the water quickly resolved this issue.Recalling my grandparents' large cabinet-like humidifier beside the wood stove, I appreciate that this unit produces a similar trickling water noise. The low setting of the fan is quiet enough not to disrupt activities around the house. Additionally, the ability to set a desired humidity level allows the machine to maintain the fan operation while shutting off the water pump when the humidity falls below the specified level, preventing over-saturation of the filter media. Overall, a very positive first impression!

My AC went out at the start of a week-long 110F+ heatwave. I ordered this unit immediately.Pros:Delivery was prompt.Very easy to set up.Easy to use.Cooled my sweltering 900 sf indoor living area really well, making my home very comfortable. I live in a dry (15% RH) climate where the unit works best.Low power draw ~100 watts.Cons:IT DOES NOT WORK IN HUMID CLIMATES.Filling the 7.5 gallon water reservoir with a pail is a bit awkward, but doable. No low water automatic shut off. But it does have a timer shut off.Need to run the fan 30 minutes with the water pump off after each use.The required use manual drain plug is awkwardly located.Did I mention that IT DOES NOT WORK IN HUMID CLIMATES?Conclusion:For me, in my dry climate, the Hessaire was a lifesaver during the heatwave. It is not a "plug-in and forget" AC unit. It is an evaporative cooler that requires more or less constant (hourly) attention and daily maintenance. But, for what it is, it is indeed superb! I love it!I'm using it on my patio now that my AC is fixed. But I no longer worry about a temporary AC outage now that I have my Hessaire MC26A.

This evaporative cooler does a great job blowing a lot of air while being very quiet. I use it on our patio in TX and it’s cooling performance is directly related to the humidity level. I tested it at 35% humidity today and the output air was ~18 degrees cooler and I could really feel the difference! 94 deg air being pulled in and 76 deg air blowing out. This matched up with the table I posted so was a nice surprise. Low humidity is definitely better and above 50% won’t cool nearly as well, but still works ok.Pros:- Looks nice, is mobile and not too heavy- Draws a max between 50W (low fan only) and 90W (max fan, pump on). I run it off a solar charged generator so it’s reasonably energy efficient.- Price is ok, not great- Remote is included- Easy to set up and use- Cools nicely (in low humidity)- Strong and quiet fan with oscillation feature.- Tank holds a good amount of water good for >3 hr.- Auto fill option works as expected (if used).Cons:- Remote doesn’t work beyond a few feet max when unit is in direct sun. It works at a further distance when it shaded. So expect to get up even with the remote.- The touch panel is NOT sensitive enough. I have to annoyingly press multiple times for it to turn on or change the fan speed, etc. It’s easier to use the remote at 6 inches than to press a button 10 times!- somewhat plastic-y and cheap feel to it, but ok.- Manual recommends draining the tank and running the fan (only) for 30 min to dry out the paper media. It’s not hard but is extra work (think prevent mosquitoes?) so I do it. Also, some sort of algaecide will be need to be added every so often to prevent bacterial or mold growth.Overall a nice unit that does what it promises.UPDATE:1) If you want to set the Relative Humidity (RH) level on the unit, it states to press the PUMP symbol. This only works on the display unit itself and not with the remote control. Both the display and remote show the same “water drop” symbol.2) It seems that the touch buttons on the unit are finicky, but I had better luck doing this:- Power button: Press and hold finger for about 3 seconds. This seems to work better.- All other buttons: A short press works ok.

Wheels were difficult to put on, but otherwise this product is awesome! Last summer had a smaller less powerful one by a different company and the thing did little and broke after about ten uses. Total waste. This one is sturdy, well built and a powerhouse. Gets humidity from 30 to 60 in no time. Effectively cools our south facing top floor bedroom - probably 200 sq ft with vaulted ceilings. The rating might make this device overkill for the size but given our crappy experience before I opted to go stronger than waste money on an underpowered device. So glad I did. The features are awesome, everything could need. Water tank holds a ton. Usually I need it on for 2-3 hours to cool the room when it’s 90s out. So I do that each evening and have to refill about every three to four nights. Hose connection would be super useful if I had a nozzle on this floor. Right now manually filling it but debating getting a hose that can hook up to the bathroom sync just to make this easier. Worth the investment 100%. So glad Hessaire made one this size with these features.
