This kit was able to get the job done. My son is learning to play the flute and we purchased this kit so that he could keep the instrument clean. So far there aren't any complaints.

I was surprised to see how well the polishing cloth worked. It will remove the tarnish! This set comes with a great amount of key oil, joint grease, the polish cloth & two other cloths. Will purchase again. I see this set lasting quite a while. Great value & quality.

This kit has everything I need to keep my flute clean. The package comes with clear instructions for how often and how you should clean your flute the proper way. Everything in the package is very useful, especially for new flute players who want to be able to learn how to properly maintain their flute on their own.

This flute kit has everything I need to maintain my flute for the years to come! If you are wondering, here are the things included in the flute maintenance kit:There is a HE91 Slide Grease for the flute's joint to help them slide better. When removing or attaching the instrument's parts, be careful not o put pressure on the keys. A slight twist and thrust is all you need to put the pieces together. If the flute is difficult to assemble or disassemble, you should take it to a professional flute repair technician. The two HE107 Flute Cleaning Clothes are a highly absorbent cotton for use with the flute cleaning rod. Use it after each playing to keep the inside of the flute free from dust, dirt, and accumulated moisture. With the flute disassembled, gently push the swab in to the bore of each section. The HE98 Polishing Cloth is a flannel cloth for polishing the lacquered and plated finishes of the flute. Rub gently. Do not use polish with this cloth. The HE825 Duster Brush has a round bristle brush on one end and a tiny broom on the other. Use it to clean out dust and dirt around the flute's keys and posts. The HE451 Pure Formula Key Oil is a specially formulated ultra-light oil. After each deep cleaning, lubricate the instrument's moving parts by applying a very small amount of Key Oil to key posts using a small swab or toothpick. The HE62 I.D.Tag included in this kit can help your instrument from getting lost. Fill out the tag with your name and address and attach it to your instrument case.

This is a perfect gift for any flutist, but especially if you know someone who is starting out on the flute as a beginner. Here's why:Almost everyone starts with a rental or used flute as a new student to the flute. They usually get a flute in a case with a cleaning rod and NO directions whatsoever. So, what is the beginner supposed to do? Wing it?This kit has AN INSTRUCTION BOOK! I love that it does, because many beginners don't know that they should NEVER eat candy or chew gum before or while playing; that they should ALWAYS swab out their instrument; that they should do monthly maintenance; etc. A lot of my beginning students actually tossed their cleaning rods because they "didn't need them" -- they had gotten big, fuzzy swabs for flute cleaning. Those are nice, but the students had NO idea the cleaning rod is used to properly position the flute's head cork (it had a mark engraved on it to do this - and it's important!). The fuzzy swabs,on the other hand, are the bane of flute repairers existence, since many students leave them IN their flutes (a huge No-No) and grow exotic mildews and ruin their pads in no time. This little Herco kit is an inexpensive, basic kit that has everything a flutist/flautist needs to keep a flute functional between yearly maintenance (oh yes, you ARE supposed to have that done...). AND it let's the new flutist know exactly how to take care of that beautiful instrument they;ve chosen to play, so it's a lot more fun.

Bought this kit for my 11 year onld with a flute in middle school. They don't give you are tell you what supplies to get. This covers most of it. You will also need a flute cleaning rod. She used this all year playing flute and she got really good, I'm sure in part to being able to simply maintain her equipment.

This kit has everything you need to take care of your flute. I have not had need of the cork grease or the oil yet, but will be saving them for later. The polishing cloth is high quality and works wonderfully. The brush will also come in handy, though I have not used it yet either. The instruction book is helpful in describing what/when/how to take care of your flute. The cleaning cloth leaves a lot of room for improvement and will not be used in my flute. The edges of the cloth fray and shed; which you do NOT want in your flute as those little pieces of cloth shedding inside your flute can lead to multiple issues. I will be purchasing a different cleaning cloth for the flute. If it came with a good cleaning cloth I would rate it with 5 stars as it would then be the complete package you need to maintain a flute; but as is it is only a 4 star.
