Designed by My Favorite Chicken, these beautiful hen jackets are sure to make your hens impress while walking on the run-way.

More practically speaking, a hen saddle or apron is a piece of chicken apparel, worn for a temporary period of time, and can be used for multiple purposes:

  • Provides relief and protection of the back from pecking hens and during molting season.
  • Provides protection from a rooster's spurs during breeding.
  • Deters aerial predators from attacking.
  • Attractive to look at and just plain fun to dress up your chickens!

Elastic band on each side to slip behind each wing to safely secure the jacket without harming the chicken.

The pecking order can be unforgiving at times

The pecking order can be a little fierce at times, and there is always that one poor, innocent hen at the bottom of the pecking order that suffers.

Specially designed to protect your hen's back and wings from hen-pecking, our Hen Couture hen saddles are the perfect protection!

First goes the feathers, then possibly drawing of first blood. If you don't act fast in protecting the hen, more serious health problems can occur.

Baby Got Back

If you have a rooster in your flock then you can relate to their high libido. On average a rooster mates every 20 minutes throughout the day. A single rooster can keep up to 10 hens fertile at any one time.

Sometimes a roo picks a very special lady and can wreck havoc on her back with his beak and spurs by over-breeding. This can be unhealthy for the hen and she can sustain feather loss and damage.

The hen saddle can provide that extra protection to either deter the mating or reduce the damage during. They allow feather re-growth without having to separate your hen from the flock or having to remove or trim anything on your rooster.

Potentially deters aerial predators

Hawks, eagles, and other aerial predators are one of those dangers that flock owners face everyday, especially if you free-range your chickens.

Being natural hunters, they can spot their prey from hundreds of feet away. The bright colorful designs of the hen saddles can actually deter them from choosing your hen for lunch. Being "unnatural" in color and shape, the hen apron confuses the predator and is like a costume for your hen.

And if they do decide to attack, the hen saddle inhibits their ability to grasp your chickens.

Looking fabulous in her Hen Couture!

There are other brands of hen aprons on the market, but none more stylish and attractive than our Hen Couture designs.

Cher here is certainly loving her new saddle.

It fits my barred rock chicken perfect. It's very cute. The only thing that could possibly make it better is to move the "HC" down so it doesn't get partially covered by the pocket. We love it!

I love Hen Couture -- so cute! -- but the straps are hard to get around the wings. One of my chickens pulled off the 'dress' of the one wearing it after a year! This is my second purchase because it is sooo cute!!! Trying multiple brands. Please let me know any suggestions re best brands. Thank you!

These two ladies are getting picked on and don’t mind wearing the aprons! Great fit, stay on, breathes well, not heavy fabric.. I have no complaints and I don’t think they do either! They also look ridiculously cute in it!(I have tried one other brand and my black crossbreed hen managed to get it off and actually buried it)

My chicken looks adorable in this, and is quite a bit safer from interactions with my rooster. A small problem is that the elastic strap that keeps the saddle around their wings is adjustable, and the saddle flops to one side or the other unless you use a safety pin to hold the strap in the center position after placing it on your hen (not a big deal, but be aware you may need to do so).Very sturdy material, months later it is still standing strong, and almost looks new.

I’m very pleased with this adorable chicken dress saddle! It actually has a functional pocket! Lol. Blondie had a mating injury on her back and needed this dress to protect her wound and keep the other birds from picking at her. Worked very well, and it stays on quite well and is uniquely designed! I HIGHLY recommend!
