While cleaning a rifle chambered in .22LR I noticed both of the threaded holes in the aluminum receiver were just about stripped out. The threads were not very deep and not smooth. I have known about the Helicoil thread repair system for many years, but never had a need to use one. Upon receipt of the 8X32 kit I followed the installation directions using red loctite to insure the helicoil stays in place. After letting it set for 24 hours I reassembled the rifle. I have disassembled the rifle several times for cleaning since then and the helicoils are staying in place and holding the screws tight.

I've used Helicoil brand before with good results. This kit had a poorly made tool to install the coil insert, and it broke. I returned it.

I bought just the heli-coils without the tool... FAIL! You have to get the proprietary tool and tap for propper installation.

Had some stripped pump screws in the primary bowl of a Holley double pumper carb. Used this kit to put in helicoils to replace stripped threads.

In 2012 I bought a D Walt polisher to polish this auction car. I had rebuilt the polisher with a new cord and grease in the gearbox. When I was installing the screws back into the gearbox I was using my festool CX S and I stripped out one of the gearbox screws which is aluminum housing. This was a permanent fix and is better than the original gearbox housing which I would have had to replace and would have been more trouble and a lot more money.
