I really like this set of insert tips. They fit my soldering iron perfectly and tighten in nicely. Also, because I use several different sizes of brass inserts, this set has always provided the right insert size I needed.

Spend the money to buy food inserts like Ruthex. These tools on the other hand don’t matter much. Any will do.Tips on how to use them:- use a soldering iron that has digital temperature control. I bought a cheap one at Amazon for something like $12.- dial the right temp for your material. PLA, PETG, ABS… are all different.- let it really come to temperature. So 30 more than when the soldering iron indicates it reached the temp you wanted.- assuming good design and print of the parts, don’t push hard, let the part go down. When almost fully in the hole, flip the part upside down on a very flat surface (even a piece of plywood will do). That will finish pushing the insert in and will have it perfectly flush with the surface looking professional.

Fits great, works great. I'll be filing 1mm of length off of the m3 tip to accommodate 3mm tall inserts. This isn't a common size but we use them often for 3mm laser-cut acrylic.

This worked great - it's easy to use with a standard soldering iron. Trick is to get the sizing right on the 3d printed model so that the lip on the inserts fits easily in the hole but doesn't go into it. Then you just apply the applicator that's in the soldering iron, and gently apply a bit of pressure so it slides into the plastic and then you just lift up and everything is set - once it's cooled down (you will burn your fingers the first time - give it _time_ to cool off!!).What I realized is that my old inserts will work but not easily. The inserts with this model has a small lip with a slightly smaller radius than the actual insert. This allows you to easily align the insert with the hole and push it in. When I use my old inserts without the lip, it works but you have to be careful. The insert fall off a few times before I got it right. So that means you need to ensure the inserts you buy for refills are the same kind. And they most likely will come at a premium. But it's easier and less troublesome so it may be worth the extra cost to you.

I use these for inserting threaded inserts into 3D printed objects, repairing automotive plastic panels, and various other applications. They work extremely well and fit the inserts perfectly. I will definitely be buying these again, as I have already done so 3 times to replace worn ones, lost ones, or even as gifts for others! They last a lot longer than that implies, and it's mostly my own clumsiness when I lose them. If you're using these for multiple sizes at once, make a holder for them so you don't drop them down the shop floor drain not just once, but 4 times... By the way, don't change these hot unless you have a place to set it down until it cools!

This is my third set of heat insert tips, and also my favorites. Two main features make these stand-out:1: these afford SIMPLE TIP CHSANGES. Because they are threaded, there's no need to take apart the soldering iron just to swap tip sizes. As a result, I just have a cheap soldering iron that I use for inserts, and changing sizes is as easy as screwing one tip off and another on. While this does make the tip itself slightly more delicate due to the smaller diameter of the threaded portion, I haven't had an issue with this.2: IDEAL TIP LENGTH. I haven't used the larger (5+) sizes yet, but I like that the insert portion of the post is a little shorter. This means that even with shorter inserts the tip itself does not stick out beyond the back of the insert itself. This keeps the tip from ever coming in contact with plastic, which allows for clean removal of the tip without pulling/interfering with the insert position. These are my new favs after trying several other options. Good bang for the buck.

I built a Voron 2.4 R2 3D printer and this set was my go to for all the insert setting. It works with the soldering iron I have and made for quick installs.Great set and a must have for a 3D builder.
