I got this mainly because I needed an adapter to allow me to use my old VGA monitor with a new desktop computer with only an HDMI output. For that, it worked fine. Here are a few of my observations:1. The power input is micro USB. Why not USB-C?2. No power adapter is included, just the USB-A to micro USB cable. For the price, that is understandable.3. Output is VGA. There is no DVI output. Most DVI monitors also have a VGA input, so this shouldn't be a major problem, so long as you have an appropriate cable or purchase a VGA/DVI adapter.4. The audio port is for a standard 3.5mm headset or earphone. An audio cable is included, but it is very short. The audio track comes directly from the HDMI input.Overall, it worked for me as a straight HDMI to VGA adapter. Since my monitor doesn't have sound, the audio jack let me connect the unit to my speaker system for the audio, which was definitely a plus. I didn't try it with a dual monitor setup because I don't have one, so I can't say how it would work with that. As it is a very inexpensive device for what it does, I'll keep it in my setup.

When I got this, I assumed I could just connect my VGA monitor to the adapter and the output HDMI cable to my PC. But this doesn't work. Turns out, you also must power the adapter by connecting it to a USB port on the PC using a provided USB cable. In hindsight maybe this was obvious, but I had to do some googling to figure it out. (No instructions are included in the box). (I figured the usb port was just an extra port for charging your phone). The adapter also has a 3.5 mm phone jack along with an included male-male cable. Not sure what that's for; maybe I need to plug it in somewhere too.Now that it's working, I kind of like this adapter. It seems well built. It has screw holes so I can secure my VGA plug to the adapter (my previous adapter doesn't have holes so the plug kept wiggling out).This is an edited review. When I originally couldn't get it to work I gave it 2 stars. Now that it's working I'm giving it 4 stars. I'm taking a star off because the lack of instructions was very annoying.Update: This adapter has solved a problem I had with my previous adapter, which is that when my system went to sleep, I could not get the VGA monitor to wake up. Now, using this adapter it wakes up perfectly.

I ordered this adapter for a dual monitor setup, with plans to use one monitor via HDMI and the other with VGA for an older screen. However, I've run into some issues with the VGA connection. The VGA side isn’t receiving a signal, and I'm wondering if my monitor might be drawing too much power for the VGA output. I tried using the included micro USB cable to connect the power to my monitor, but it didn’t work. I even connected it to a USB block, but still no signal. For now, I'm working on upgrading my VGA monitor, and I'll update my review once I have that sorted out.
