**The Gist:**This unassuming little adapter is a lifesaver for anyone wanting to connect HDMI sources, like the Asus ROG Ally, to USB-C displays, particularly XR/AR glasses like the VITURE Pro. It's plug-and-play simple, and in my experience, it just *works*.**My Situation:**Like many ROG Ally owners, I quickly realized the single USB-C port could be limiting, especially when venturing into XR/AR gaming with my new VITURE Pro glasses. Enter this HDMI to USB-C adapter. Paired with a USB-C hub/power adapter for the Ally, it creates a functional (if slightly messy) bridge to enjoy immersive gaming.**What I Liked:*** **Simplicity & Functionality:**Honestly, the best thing about this adapter is that it does exactly what it promises. Plug the HDMI into your source (ROG Ally in my case), the USB-C into your display (VITURE Pro glasses), and boom – picture! No drivers, no fuss, just instant connection.* **Essential for My Setup:**This adapter transformed my ROG Ally from a standalone handheld into a portal for immersive XR/AR gaming on my VITURE Pro glasses. It filled a crucial connectivity gap and made my desired setup a reality.* **Solves the "One USB-C Port" Problem:**For ROG Ally and similar devices with limited USB-C outputs, this adapter provides a straightforward solution to connect HDMI-based displays. Keep in mind that you will still need the ASUS ROG Alley 65watt OEM adapter purchased separately.* **Good Enough for 1080p (at least for me):**While advertised as 4K 60Hz capable, I'm perfectly happy gaming at 1080p on my XR/AR glasses, and this adapter handles that flawlessly. The picture is clear and stable, exactly what I needed. (While I can't personally vouch for 4K performance, it's good to know the potential is there).* **Marriage (and Gaming) Saver!:** Okay, maybe a *slight* exaggeration, but being able to game on the ROG Ally while my wife enjoys her shows in the same room is a huge win. This adapter contributes to that peaceful coexistence!**Things to Consider:*** **Wired Mess is Real:**Let's be honest, adding any adapter (especially with hubs involved) creates cable clutter. My couch area now resembles a tech spiderweb. This isn't the adapter's fault specifically, but something to be aware of when building your setup. Clean cable management will be your friend.* **Uni-Directional (HDMI to USB-C):**Remember, this adapter is specifically HDMI *source* to USB-C *display*. It won't work in reverse (e.g., connecting a USB-C laptop to an HDMI monitor). This is clearly stated in the product description, but worth reiterating.* **4K Untested (by me):**I can't confirm the 4K 60Hz performance as I'm currently using it at 1080p. For my needs, 1080p is excellent, but if 4K is your absolute priority and you need verification, you might want to look for reviews specifically testing that aspect.**Overall:**For anyone in a similar situation to mine – ROG Ally owner wanting to use XR/AR glasses or other USB-C displays via HDMI – this HDMI to USB-C adapter is a fantastic, no-brainer purchase. It's simple, effective, and gets the job done without any headaches. While it adds to cable clutter and I can't personally confirm 4K performance, the core functionality for 1080p gaming is excellent. If you need to bridge the HDMI to USB-C gap, especially for handheld gaming and XR/AR, I highly recommend giving this adapter a try.

My problem? Getting my HDMI port on a laptop connected to a USB C portable display. This is the solution! Simply connect the device to the HDMI port, plug in the power to USB A and then a display capable USB C cable to your display.I tried it with my display without power first and got a decent, but dim copy of my desktop. Then with the display powered the image was almost as bright as the original screen. This is more likely due to the original screen's brightness range than a failure on the HDMI to USB C Adapter. All in all this does EXACTLY what it promises - adapting HDMI signals to USB C and does so very easily.*There is one thing to monitor and that's the temperature of the adapter. I didn't notice it during testing, but it was still very warm a few minutes later. So I'm not sure if it will get HOT, or just "very warm" with prolonged use. I still give it five stars for solving a problem for me.

I think this (Uni-Directional) HDMI to USB-C (display) port may be a bit of a specialized device, and the price, I believe, somewhat reflects that. However, it does do the job, and does it well, and that's what matters. There's not much to it. Basically, it's plug-n-play, although you do have to provide external power. It supports (4K 60Hz) and I'll never need more from it.(don't forget the external power - 5V/1A) I could easily see someone attaching this, plugging in an external display and getting some horrible image and thinking something is wrong with the adapter, when it just doesn't have sufficient power.
