This was essentially plug and play on Samsung tv. Was immediately recognized as default audio device, tv remote volume adjust works to control audio out.

This is a tiny device that does the job. I connected it to HDMI-ARC from my Samsung monitor/TV .The TV sound is now coming through my receiver and sounds great and the TV remote controls the volume.

It takes HDMI (port labeled ARC) or optical as input, and generates various audio port outputs, including Toslink or Coaxial and 3.5mmR/L. This is useful as i want to connect the HDMI output from your TV to a home theater audio system or soundbar.
