They are brake pads and from what I've read they are highly recommended. But no brake hardware, you can get it from AutoZone. Just annoying.

Replaced dangerously lame "lifetime" metallic pads on my '92 Miata. What an upgrade! They give strong, predictable braking, hot, cold, wet or dry. I've had no fade or dusting in street use.

I have owned my 1990 Miata for about 2 years now, and it's braking ability has been an item of concern to me since I purchased it. The brake pedal was very sensitive, and if I tried to stop quickly, I would inevitably lock up the tires, leading to some "fun" press->lock->release cycles to get stopped in time. I considered replacing the pads, but the pads on the car had so much life left that I hated to "waste" them.Finally a particularly short yellow light at the bottom of a highway offramp (ending with four of the lock->release cycles and my car halfway into the crosswalk) convinced me that I ought to do something. After doing some research, I decided on these pads, as they have pretty good reviews around the Miata community, and I'd had good luck with the brand on my old Taurus SHO.Installation was pretty much on a par with any other Miata brake pad. I opted to replace the caliper hardware while I had everything apart, and I'm glad I did as the slider pin boots were in a rather sorry state. My rotors where fine so I just cleaned them up in preparation for the new pad material and reused them.I should mention that these pads have all the correct mounts, etc. for all of the Miata factory anti-rattle clips and squealers, but these items are not included and will need to be either reused from your old pads or purchased separately.After installation, I make a quick detour to the Hawk website for bedding instructions. Be sure to properly bed the pads before use, as they don't "bite" very well until bedded.These pads require more pedal force to stop than my old junk pads, which allows for more precise braking as there is more pedal travel to play with. It is very difficult to lock up the tires with these pads. Stomping on the brakes results in the sort of "thrown against the seatbelts" deceleration that you'd expect a roadster to the capable of. The pads are quiet, and seem to be much less dusty than the junk pads.I'm quite pleased with these pads, enough so that I just ordered the corresponding set for my rear brakes.
