This is a simple, clever pressure cooker. Well made, perfect for one or two people. Get a bigger one if you are feeding a family.

Safety valve blew. Manufacturing defect?I hardly used this pressure cooker like 6 or 7 times and the last time I used the safety valve blew up / enabled in a medium flame. I am not sure if these are built for a stove tops in the US. I am not sure if this is a manufacturing defect. It is 2+ months ago I bought this. Not happy. I cannot even return this now.

Everything about this pressure cooker reeks of poor quality and workmanship. The rubber seal was three sizes too large and the cover wouldn't even fit on top of the base. I would never buy Hawkins again

I bought this specifically to decoct herbs like ashwagandha. For that it works pretty well. It's super small so its uses for food are pretty limited, but for single small meals or side dishes it should serve well. Made in India by a company with a long history of quality. It comes with a trivet/rack for elevating food or placing the hot cooker on, and a recipe book/manual that looks like it's straight out of the 70s, which is both hilarious and also really useful. I don't believe this is large enough for any kind of container (pot in pot) cooking, but I'm sure someone uses a tiny stainless bowl to do something funky. The way hawkins cookers lock is ultra secure, and the seal, valve, and safety plug are all user-serviceable.The only problem I found is that, unlike the futura model with the sloped top rim, this model has a horizontal one that makes scraping out the last bits of food a bit tough. The small sizes mean you can't really get a good angle with some tools and scrapers, and the heat of the cooker when you're going to be doing this means it's a little risky. Despite that, it's easy to clean.

This is my first Hawkins pressure cooker after my old one died (different brand) and after several weeks of use I have purchased a different brand that is quiet.Pros - Simple design and easy replace parts that will last year. No unnecessary features, easy to clean, good quality materials.Cons - loud, intermittent releases of steam that spray liquid contents everywhere.Would I buy again? No, because I've realised my priority is less noise rather than price. However, if your priority is cost and easy replace parts, this is a solid choice.

I bought this to use when traveling. It is the perfect size for 2-4 servings. It speeds the cooking process allowing us to conserve our fuel at our camp stove. I have used it several times and it is easy to use, clean and store away. The assembly of the pot for use is easy and safe.

Pressure cookers universally cost a lot. They are investments. This was absolutely a good investment for me.Why this brand:Metal:- High Quality Stainless Steel (Your only real alternative to this is Aluminum, which is not good for the brain)- 18/8 vs 18/10, (means less nickel exposure. Although nickel has no known benefit to the body, Stainless steel with nickel is time-tested, and doesn't provide the toxicity that aluminum has association with)Seal: Completely brilliant but simple seal mechanism.- Keeps rubber seal OUT of cook-path. No rubber taste in food! I love you Hawkins! Pressure cook my children for me!!- Rising pressure level creates stronger sealing by design. Did I mention BRILLIANT??Design:- Very Simple- Very Safe- Lid Cannot "Blow Off"Notes: New seals and safety valves are inexpensive. The company gets its money on your first purchase, them provides long-term consumables at very low cost. Thank you! A good investment...

You can get a cheaper all aluminum pressure cooker from Walmart but, personally I find this one to be much much better and would have no issue getting the larger size if I needed the capacity. Stainless steel removes any concerns of use with tomatoes or citrus meals. The 1.5L also comes up to pressure QUICKLY!My first meal with it was DRY PINTO BEANS with some salt and cayenne pepper. After ~30 minutes at a nice low frequency 'pop', they were tender and ready to eat! I filled it half full with Pintos and topped with water so, the exhaust valve did make a bit of a mess on the lid with the steam/bean froth but it was easy to clean up and wipe down my cooktop. Next time, I will try a smaller quantity of Pintos and a bit more water which should solve the bean froth in the steam issue. Overall, for the price I paid, I think this was a solid value. Being stainless steel it will stand up to a good deal of 'abuse' in a kitchen cabinet as well where aluminum would dent and not seal killing the pressure cooker feature. The handle clip to seal the unit with the pressure topper is super easy to use. Cleaning the pot requires you to remember to wipe/scrub the inner lip where the lid seals the cooker which can be seen directly by looking into the pot.I'm doing some Barley right now so, a follow up review should follow at some point in the future.Part 2: Oct 28, 2022---------------------------------------------I have been making mainly Pinto beans with this pressure cooker Overall, it works well and is easy to use.The one caveat I have is to be careful with the water level in the tiny pressure cooker. Lots of steam can lead to enough water loss to scorch your food. Typically this is a problem only when the heat is tool high on your burner. If you have a had a lot of steam escape, I would turn the heat off and add water, then continue your cook. Cleaning the interior portion of the lid and rim is a little fiddly but, not too bad. This the price you pay for having a simple lid that seals up easily and so easy to clean compared to more traditional pressure cookers. If space isn't a concern, I would suggest stepping to a slightly larger pressure cooker so it holds more moisture, even if your cook size in the same. I plan on traveling with this one so, the compact size works well for me and now that I have used it several times, I have no concerns packing it for travel.

I also have the aluminum 2L pot. The aluminum one is a lot lighter, the bottom will warp with high heat, will scratch and dent with rough use, and it has rivets for the handle inside the pot. I'm pretty happy with the stainless version so far.
