I use this everyday and I love it. Things I love: Slim design, easy to use, very little clean up, makes fine snow cone ice, or a little chunkier shaved ice. There is a dial on the bottom to adjust for the desired ice. The instructions say to fill the plastic containers 1/4 full with water and freeze. However, we have filling to 1/3 full. When frozen, simply put a frozen piece in the top of the machine and turn on. I bought some extra containers because I use it so much. I don't use syrups, instead I use fresh lime juice. You could buy in already squeezed form, but I like fresh better. There are lots of recipes on Pinterest. I'm sure orange juice would also taste good. In the summer I would like to try blending some watermelon until liquid and mixing it with the ice. I find it very refreshing. I use about 6 teaspoons of lime juice to one ice block. The limes can be a little time consuming to juice, so I recently bought a Breville citrus juicer from William Sonoma for $149 and I love it. It juices limes very quickly and easily. There is another one for $229.00 and it's all stainless steel. This is my favorite appliance.

My husband is a huge snow cone junkie, so I surprised him with this. He loves it! He’s used it almost daily for the past 3 months and it’s held up great. It’s a hit with the kids too. Offers everything between crushed ice and soft fluffy snow (which is what he prefers and what led me to choose this one). Easy to use by simply pressing down, no louder than a blender or chopper, shaves the ice in less than a minute, and super easy cleanup since really all you need to do is let the parts dry. We just use the bowls included for our ice molds and shave it into our own dinner bowls for serving. This is a staple in our kitchen and I would highly recommend this to fellow snow cone lovers! Makes a great gift and fun to break out when company is over and makes good wine slushees too ;)

This machine is not worth the price you pay for it. I didn't receive all 5 of the molds, I received 3 and only 2 with a lid. It's so difficult to use. You have to unlock the it and the hole top of the machine comes off then add ice then the top part back on which is difficult to close with any type of ice in it. It's extremely noises but its crushing ice so that is to be expected. I will be sending mine back.

This makes the best shaved ice! My kids (&me!) make these almost every night! We are obsessed. Way better than the regular shaved ice machines. This is a must have especially during summer.Side note- only fill up the plastic cups 3/4 full! Leave a little more room than it says! We learned by having to melt down the first few to get the machine to close with the ice puck in!

This has been easy to use and fun for my daughter. I have been wary of the sharp blade inside, so she removes the remaining ice piece with something, but I have told her to not take the blade part out - just to leave it to dry assembled. It has worked well and makes a quick few bowls of fluffy shaved ice.

Went to Maui at Easter. Was craving Hawaiian Shaved ice and something tells me that with 150$ per night resort fee's on top of 5 different taxes and a loaf of bread 9$ US, it might be a while before I return SO did a little research and ordered this highly rated machine. Read about the unit on my phone's daily news then looked it up. At first the unit was $200. I waited for Amazon prime day. Unit was $260. Should have bought it right away. It took a while to get to me. Box was all beat up when it did. US ? Canada mail? It was not sent by courier. Unit worked so I didn't have to contact seller. Very happy with the product. It makes great ice. I use high quality syrups and love this unit. Many uses. You can not over fill the molds or freeze them at an angle or unit will not close properly and lock shut. It is plastic and suspect but so far has held up. Anyway I use it all the time. Twice a day for me. Kids and wife do some too but I am addicted to Hawaiian shaved ice now! My favourite is Monin's Passion Fruit syrup with a couple spoons of sweetened condensed milk. If I drank oh, the possibilities! Can also be used to make slushes and slurpee type ice. I hope the unit keeps working and does not break. It seems a little flimsy but so far so good. The motor is in the top of the unit and the ice goes in a cup compartment the blade is in the bottom and has a finger screw thickness adjustment. You can get very fine slivers of ice like a wood plane. It's pretty amazing. I'm endorsing it! If it breaks I will update the review but I can not tell a lie. It is really fun and a happy part of my day every day. So many different flavours!

Leaving the ice out to warm up and temper really is super important by the way. The ice molds with lids are pretty helpful. Will say that there isn’t a single bowl in my house that fits in the gap under the machine that only becomes a problem for shaving things that are softer and messier to shave like milk or juice. On that note i recommend shaved mango juice with a bit of strawberry syrup.

After using this every day for about 5 months a part broke inside my unit. I sent an email to ask if I could just buy a part so I didn't have to purchase a new unit and to my dismay, they apologized and sent me a brand-new unit. There was no discussion of what I did to cause this to happen or anything else. I sent a copy of my purchase through amazon and a picture of the sticker on the back and that's it. (Insert standing ovation) Major thanks to a truly amazing company. Now let me tell you why I use this pretty much every day.As far as the machine goes, it produces some of the best shaved ice/snow cones I have ever had. The last unit required a fair amount of strength as you had to push down on the ice & it was pretty loud. This new small black unit is so much easier to use. All you do is push a single button and it does the rest. Now there is a trick to getting your perfect serving. If you like true shaved ice, think eating fresh powdery snow, very soft and fluffy but melts somewhat quickly when you add syrup, 1st refrigerate your syrup so it's not as warm and 2nd use the ice disks right out of the freezer. This gives you a nice shave of the ice and it almost looks like white cotton. Now I happen to like more of a snow cone texture where I can chew on the small ice pieces. The trick here, let your ice disk warm up. Yup, as strange as it sounds take the disk out of your freezer and let it set for 10 to 20 min depending on how warm your room is. The disk will easily slip out of the mold and you will get a texture that is a lot more course than if you use it right out of the freezer. Both of these tips require you to use the white molds that are sold by Hawaiian shaved ice. Trust me, they are worth it. Yes you can use any ice cube your freezer makes but if you want to get your perfect snack get the disk's and experiment with how long you let them defrost before turning them into a fantastic snack. This last hack is only for people who eat a lot of these. Your snow cone is only as good as your water. If you don't drink what comes out of your tap don't use it to make ice. There can be a big difference in taste using purified water over tap.On a side note, this has replaced ice cream as my go to after dinner snack and I have lost about 20 lbs just eating shaved ice as a snack when I want something sweet. Red Cups make the perfect vessel to hold my favorite treat. ...and you can make them in advance. I just put a little plastic wrap over the top. They never last more than a few days in my freezer but I'm sure you could make some each day if you have a big party coming on the weekend.
