Your cart is empty. The cobalt 6542 high-speed steel hand tap offers high hardness(67-68HRC), good toughness, wear resistance, and excellent cutting performance. The clear threads and universal square shank ensure a precise fit.
TiCN coating (Dark Silver Black) has higher hardness and better wear resistance than TiN coating (Gold) and is suitable for cutting difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloy and high-temperature alloy. It can effectively resist the problems of chip adhesion and oxidation peeling.
The hand tap is a versatile tool that can be used to re-thread damaged or jammed threads or to create new threads. It is suitable for tapping through or shallow holes in mild steel, aluminum, iron, copper, and hard plastic. Thanks to straight flutes, chips can be quickly discharged downwards during work for efficient tapping, making it a good choice for a range of applications.
Ensure proper alignment, use proper tapping technique and apply even pressure when turning the tap to produce clean, accurate threads. Periodically reverse while tapping to break up chips and remove debris from the flutes to prevent clogging and ensure smooth operation.
A suitable cutting lubricant or oil should be applied during the tapping process to achieve higher-quality threads and more durable taps.

Arrived way too late to be of use, so returned it. Its arrival was delayed more than once. It is an odd number of threads and this is the only one I could find at a reasonable price for a one--time use

First of all, I was happy to find this. It is not a common fine or course thread. 7/16-16 in my application is for a 1933 Harley-Daividson headbolt thread. I used it to clean the headbolt threads in the cylinders, running the tap in with a 5/16” wrench.
