These reagents follow the colorimetric salicylate method . The reaction between ammonia, ammonium, and the reagent causes a blue-green tint in the sample. By adding the HI784A-0 Reagent A, HI784B-0, and HI784C-0 to the sample, the reaction will take place and the HI784 will determine the concentration from the color that is produced. The results will be displayed in ppm of Ammonia. These reagents are designed to be used with saltwater samples that have an expected range of 0.00 to 2.50 ppm.

Indispensable when cycling a tank using ammonia. If you can transfer some bio-media from a cycled tank, you can skip cycling with ammonia altogether. This wasn't an option for me, so I was happy to have this. Now I'll sell it because it's not useful for a cycled tank that pretty much stays at zero ammonia all the time.

PROs.If you have trouble reading those color charts this is a good option. Easy to use.CONSHanna reagent refill packs are IMHO ridiculously expensive for a few grains of powder.
