these strips are a great way to check and see how your tank is doing. cut them in half lengthwise to double your count!

Works great and it is so simple. Definitely recommend. Only thing that was kind of annoying was that on the all in 1 bottle it took me like 5 minutes to peel it open to see the test colors to compare the strips to (it's pretty thin and I guess my fingernails are too short). But at the end of the day that's probably better since there is no risk of "losing it", and too petty of a thing to detract a star.

I decided to test these strips against my API liquid test kit because I kept hearing bad things about strip water tests, but they seem to work just fine. I have consistently gotten similar results with both testing methods. The liquid test is more precise, as it's easier to see the difference between say 20 and 30ppm of nitrates; but if you're just looking for a pretty close estimate, these strips work fine. They're also quicker and easier to use for beginners or in a pinch.

It's safe to say a professional liquid test kit is the way to go for aquarium testing, but if you're going to try and save money or feel more comfortable using strips, then the Tetra brand strips are the only option I'd recommend. Other brands give inaccurate and inconsistent results. Tetra's test strips are actually accurate (I've compared results to those of my API liquid test kit to verify) and they're pretty simple to use too. The only advice I would give is, use sharp scissors to cut the strips in half lengthwise so you can double the amount of strips you get per bottle. It has no effect on the performance of the strips when used like this. It simply stretches the number of strips you get by double the amount that comes in the bottle. I'll be honest, I keep Tetra test strips on hand for when I'm too lazy to use my liquid test kit or don't have a lot of time to monkey around. I just dunk them in the tank, let it rest a bit and read the results on the back of the bottle. Easy peazy. I would recommend these to other aquarists

First of all, these are very easy to use. The ammonia tests are just dip for 15 secs, shake and look. The other test is a dip and wait a minute.I have backed up both for accuracy with a second test kit. These are basically accurate but do not really have a wide range of colors. This is problematic when setting up a tank and you try to see if any particular range is going up or down. The colors on the strip are just too similar to tell. For instance, the ammonia for 1ppm looks very close to 5ppm. It is very hard to tell the difference. These are all better served as an occasional check to make sure everything is ok once the filter is cycled and working. Possibly use it after adding fish just to see if anything spikes. These are much better at detecting whether something is there than how much. Get a better test kit for that. These are; however, easier and quicker to use once a tank is up and running just to check things.

Two reading patches of the five are not used to test saltwater tanks. Why am I being strips that are wasteful and of no use? This wasn't disclosed in the product information. All the energy and waste to produce reagents which I then throw in the garbage. Disgusting. Also, the pH values are for saltwater tanks, NOT brackish ones. The test area that says dangerously low pH levels are WRONG for Betta fish. If you follow them, you will hurt your fish.I would want a test strip that isn't wasting my money or unnecessarily polluting. Why is there no test strip in this saltwater kit that actually TESTS salinity???Disappointed with this product. Will find one that works properly in future and buy elsewhere.

Hard tell the accuracy. I have three different test kits and all I wanted out of this one was to give me an idea if certain parameters were high.

ok I guess. accuracy is not the point here. Just a quick peek if you could be in trouble or not.kinda dumb taping the chart on the container, folded, and the notification that you have to peel the darn thing off, is not really easy to notice.taped the chart on the side of my canopy right away so it doesn't get wet, or worse, lost.
