I highly recommend this for kids that are not so crafty. It’s very ease to use. We did watch a YouTube video for instructions.

This set has everything you need to jump in! A pre-framed drawing, the needle punch, and a bag of colored yarn. Two full color instruction sheets are included. Instructions are sparce, but I appreciated the photos. I definitely did a few of the color blocks wrong. (I was moving the needle punch the wrong way.) But I did eventually figure it out!The yarn is soft, if a little prone to split. This is a 2-3 evening project for me.Fun to learn a new craft!

This is a fun activity I can do with my children and every time I see it, this would be a sentimental memory, 5 stars.

I ordered this kit as a beginner to punch needle myself. As a skilled crafter who has ability to read and take on new craft challenges, I was able to finish this project despite not being able to read/understand the accompanying instructions. A couple of the yarn colors didn’t match but I think it still looks nice now that it’s completed. Highly recommend this hobby for any age level.

I had high hopes for this kit when I ordered it. The punch tool is much like an Oxford needle, which is great. However, I did not expect for the cloth to be mounted onto a wood frame, nor did I expect it to be aida cloth, which is for cross stitch, not punch needle. It is not monk cloth and it is not mounted to the frame nearly tightly enough. The cloth needs to be drum head tight for punch needle. This has at least an inch and a half of slack in it (see pic with my thumb pushing against it), which makes punching difficult, tedious, and uneven. The yarn is the typical cheap acrylic yarn that comes with most of these kits, so that didn't surprise me. It is, however, a thicker weight than most, so you will at least get better coverage with it. There are two instruction sheets included which will probably make absolutely no sense to someone who has never done punch needle before. There are apparently Instagram video tutorials available, but I have not watched them, so I cannot speak to whether they are informative and helpful or not. The good news is that I have a staple gun, so I can remount this cloth on the frame to be as tight as it needs to be. I can also use a smaller needle that's more appropriate to the scale of the cloth. The bad news is that I shouldn't have to do either of these things, and most people probably won't have the tools I do. I would definitely not recommend this kit to someone who has not done punch needle before. There are other kits available for smaller projects that come with better supplies (including actual monk cloth and the appropriate size of needle) and possibly better instructions.

My daughter-in-law has expressed an interest in learning to do punch embroidery, which prompted me to look into it too. I've done a lot of fiber crafts, but this isn't one that was ever on my radar. This comes in a nice, recloseable box, and everything is nicely packed. The canvas is attached to the frame and wrapped in plastic, and that is placed so the open side is up, which is perfect. If it were the other way, the needle punch tool and yarn on top could stretch the canvas out. This way there is very little tension on that fabric. The yarn is nice and soft, and gentle on the hands. Not that you do a lot of touching the yarn as you work, but as a knitter and crocheter, it is something I notice regardless. There are two full color pages of instructions. One goes through general getting started information. I found it a little confusing as the punch needle pen in the pictures is definitely different from the one in the kit. (The one in the kit does match the one in the photos on this page.) The instructions keep referring to things like, "Make sure it is on Position C when you are threading." That isn't something that this tool has, so that confused me a bit.The first side is really the basics of how it works, the second is a little more theory on how to do it -- the order to fill things in, doing curved lines, that kind of thing. The second instruction page takes you through this specific pattern, again mentioning that you need to make sure you are in Position C. Roughly half of the second side of the sheet is a photo of the completed project, where it is pretty clear as to what colors go where, and at least some idea as to the pattern they used to fill the shapes in.They also tell you how to find them on instagram, where you can find videos of some of their projects. I found that to be interesting, though not necessarily helpful.Nice kit.
