Not well made. This ice crusher only lasted a couple of weeks before the plastic pieces inside started breaking.

Was hard to crank from the first use. One of the small clear plastic tines from the shaving mechanism broke off into ice. Thank God my grandson found it before he tried to chew it. Did not last a month.

About the third time I used it a chunk of the plastic broke off into the ice I put into my coffee. Luckily I noticed the chunk missing when I rinsed it out so I retrieved the piece and sent it back with item for return. Should be removed from sale until this is resolved!!!!! Should not be made of plastic.

The YANDEA Hand Crank Ice Crusher - 1.3L Portable Manual Ice Crusher and Shaved Ice Machine, doesn't really make shaved ice, it only makes crushed ice (shaved ice = very small, fine, ice shavings, & crushed ice = smaller ice pieces, like smashing ice, it just gets smaller). It's also a little tough to turn to crush the ice, but if you're a strong person (such as my significant other), you won't have any problems using it. It takes me awhile to get a cup of crushed ice, but my significant other could do it in about a quarter of the time it takes me - he's just much stronger than I am. I also found that it really helps to hold the entire piece from the top, holding it down on whatever surface it's on, in order to keep it steady/stable. It's really simple, and straightforward, so using it isn't complicated in any way, and it's small enough to not take up much room too. It's made of a thick clear plastic, so you can see everything inside, and the blades are a sharp, thick, metal - they're strong, and durable as well. It felt to me like if I wasn't careful with how I used it, I might break it, so I just make sure to use caution when I'm using it. I do like that it has a hand crank, because it won't ever need to be plugged in, or charged. It might be a little more difficult to use, but I can take it with me, and use it anywhere, without having to give any thought to where I'd get the power to run it, which I really like. Overall, I think it's a pretty nice ice crusher. It's affordable, and only takes a few minutes to get plenty of crushed ice made (less time for stronger people). I think the benefits/positives outweigh the negatives with this product, so I'd definitely recommend it.
