Great Substrate for Reptile Cage

This substrate is perfect for reptile cage. Such as, tortoise table, chameleon's vivarium, ball python enclosure. The coconut husk is easy for reptiles to walk on and burrow into and it does not stick to them at all. It is easy to clean, absorbent and smells good. Using this coco husk bedding can add some texture and enrichment to reptile cage.

4

Mimics the Reptiles' Natural Habitats

This Coconut husk substrate provides a soft and natural surface that mimics the reptiles' natural habitats. This is particularly important for reptiles that rely on substrate for burrowing or nesting behaviors. The coconut chip texture gives them the opportunity to engage in their instinctual behaviors, leading to a happier and healthier captive life.

5

Perfect for Plant Propagation

The coco husk is a nice, small size for using in pots and soaks up to a very spongy, water retaining medium. It can be wrung out to stay damp without being soaked and still allows free draining. It will be great for moisture regulation. You can use it for houseplants, terrariums and mushroom substrate.

First, make sure you do your research for what types of snake and other reptiles this type of substrate is ok for. (For example, it's not suitable for "borrowing" species.)This stuff comes tightly vacuum sealed and packed, so it will take some soaking and breaking apart before it's useable. I use about half of the product for a 75 gallon aquarium for an adult ball python. That much usually lasts me about 6 months because for cleaning I usually just remove handfuls of soiled substrate each month (I feed the python one very large rat each month, so that's about how often I need to clean up, too.)This stuff does get dusty when it dries out, so be aware of that. I'd recommend for tropical reptiles to get a misting type of set up, which will keep the dust to a minimum.Be a bit cautious with how much and how often you mist the enclosure. When I first set it up, I did too much, and, as with too much moisture anywhere, I did get some mold on the substrate. That was mostly my fault, though, for overdoing it. Since I've dialed back how often it mists, I have not noticed mold, but the humidity level of the enclosure has stayed fairly high for the tropical ball python.I've never had any problems with this substrate; I recommend it for its value and relatively ease of use.

When I ordered this, I was excited to use it. But once we opened it up- there was small pieces of plastic throughout the entire block. So we had to be extra careful as we were putting it into our snakes tank. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Purchased as substrate for my African Leopard Tortoise. Pieces are large enough so he won't eat hem, with enough small "fluff" to provide good coverage on bottom of terrarium. Substrate comes in a brick form that you need to soak with water to expand.Only odd thing is there is no instructions on how much water to add. I added to much and ended up having to mop up from the bottom of the terrarium. Because of adding too much water it stayed wet for a day or two, but is now dry and looks natural!

The price is right and it seems just fine. About a 50/50 mix of chips and fiber. I'm using it for my ball pythons and boa imperator. I like this style of bedding far more than that dusty coco coir. I'll continue ordering.
