I use this chain as a safety device while tying my row boat ashore. So far so good. After a year outdoors there's no rust. Even in salty water. Frankly, I'm impressed.Comparing to a regular steel, this chain is lighter as well. It's well polished and has this slicky touch to it.I'm glad I bought it
