Disappointingly, this flux pen requires a separate purchase for the flux of your choice before it is usable. For this price I could have purchased two pens that would have been usable straight out of the box. My bad for not checking the reviews that make it clear that we are buying the pen only; but nevertheless it is arguably misleading advertising.

Extremely useful and refillable. Although it's a bit messy to refill. Maybe a syringe load would be better?

It comes without fluid. I didn't realize that at first, but went back and checked the website and I would agree it was well noted.I knock off a star here because honestly it's not really useful at all without the fluid. You can't order the fluid from anywhere, you need to pick another generic fluid, which will almost certainly come in a sealed pen form. So I've still never even been able to use this.

This product is great for putting a tiny amount of flux into a tiny area. You'll have to paint over the contact a few times to get enough flux to work with, though. The reason for only 4 stars is because if the brush tip touches the soldering iron for even a tiny amount of time, it will melt a few of the bristles together and the brush will start to hang up when painting flux over those wire spikes found around existing joints when repairing/reflowing/modifying existing electronics and PCBs.This flaw aside, I would recommend this product and a bottle of flux over the typical pre-filled flux pens.

What more to say? Still on the first fill, not sure if it can be repeat refilled or what that refilling experience would be like, but this is much nicer to use than a wide old flux pen that is more at home in the 70's than in the SMT world of today and we also prefer it to using a brush. We did make a little mess filling it, a small funnel or using a syringe might be wise, but it's very nice to use. Yes, it's an empty pen, it doesn't come with flux, that should be made clear, but that's also a plus, you can use this with your favorite flux.
