I use Hogoromo chalk exclusively. Never before have I had any issues with it. Typically I use the regular size. For large lecture halls sometime I use the large size chalk. This last batch I bough was trash. In 3 minutes I broke 3 pieces, whereas before I barely broke one piece in years of use. I hope this is just a bad batch, and not that the formula changed recently. My last purchase of large Hogoromo chalk was back in 2019 (yes pre Covid) it was a dream to use, contrasted with this one I just bought that is complete and utter trash. Brittle, soft, nowhere near what Hogoromo chalk is supposed to be.

The chalk erases easily from a blackboard. It's definitely worth the money.

The only chalk better than the Hagoromo chalk, the best chalk in the world, is this Hagoromo large chalk.The NY Times says the story that this chalk is so precious among mathematicians that it never wrote a wrong theorem.The color one is great as well, and unlike usual colored chalk, it erases very well...

I was very lucky to find all of my chalk arrived intact.Hagoromo is a legendary name in chalk. I have to say that I am very pleased to find that this chalk is of the same quality as the original name (from what I understand it is now under new ownership).If you teach in a large lecture hall, and want to make your handwriting bigger, or if you want to use only one piece of chalk for all of your chalkboard business, then this is the chalk for you.Smooth, clear lines, fine wax coating to keep your hands from getting chalky. You couldn't ask for a better chalk.
