HIIT

HIIT & Tabata

Gymboss timers are made to keep your HIIT workouts efficient and effective. They can be set for two intervals (2 seconds to 99 minutes), and rounds or repeats up to 99 times.

Gymboss timers are perfect for Tabata workouts – set the intervals for 20 seconds and 10 seconds for 8 repeats. Run, bike, row, squat, lunge – pick your favorite – and go as hard as you can for the 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat 8 times. This is the ultimate HIIT routine. There are many different routines to do Tabata style, and the Gymboss is the perfect timer to get the job done.

Weightlifting

Weightlifting

Rest is important when weightlifting. Different rest times yield very different results and providing consistent rest allows you to reach goals and watch your progress. Not timing rest can result in workouts that may run much longer than planned.

Use Gymboss to time an exact rest period, such as 60 seconds, or whatever rest time you desire, between every set. Set the rest you desire and the beep and/or vibration of the Gymboss lets you know when your rest is over. Or, set the repeating feature and complete a disciplined workout of 20 sets in 30 minutes with approximately 60 seconds rest between each set, that’s a 30 minute workout every time!

mma

MMA and Boxing

Gymboss timers allow you to keep your eye on the prize – not the clock. MMA and boxing training programs require discipline to achieve maximum benefits. Many new school trainers follow old school programs of 3-5 minutes of work to 1 minute of rest but also incorporate many short bursts of very high intensity follow by short recovery to mimic actual boxing and MMA fights. Our timers support 90% of training programs with interval timer, countdown timer and stopwatch functionalities.

Crossfit

Crossfit

Many Crossfit workouts have time constraints. Gymboss timers offer the functionalities you need no matter the WOD - repeating interval, every minute on the minute, AMRAP, countdown timer and stopwatch.

run

Running or Run Walk Run

If you are a runner who wants to improve your race time or a walker who wants to Learn to Run, you can improve through the use of intervals.

Gymboss interval timers are the perfect run walk run timer, or can be used for advanced runners training to develop speed and raise their anaerobic threshold.

Kettlebells

Kettlebells

Effective kettlebell routines require timing intervals, circuits and duration. The Gymboss timers keep track of different intervals and workout duration whether your routine involves reps followed by rest, timed work intervals followed by timed recovery intervals, or sequenced timed circuits with or without timed rest.

Interval or Circuit Training

Interval and Circuit Training

Get out of your exercise slump with interval training – add short bouts of intensity to your cardio workouts to increase endurance and prevent a plateau. Set your Gymboss intervals for high-intensity and lower-intensity to push beyond your comfort zone.

Focus on proper form and reps when you move through a circuit – not the clock. The beep and vibration of the interval timer on the Gymboss interval timers let you know when it is time to move to the next circuit.

Yoga and Stretching

Yoga and Stretching

Take your yoga practice outside of the studio with your Gymboss timer. Setting the interval timer helps you learn the correct amount of time to hold a pose. Its small vibration will indicate when to changes poses. Timing your poses will help you learn to control your breath as you move through different poses.

Stretching is one of the most important parts of any training program. Many people skip it or don’t hold stretches long enough. The small vibration of the Gymboss keep you accountable for full stretch sessions before and after workouts. Doing 10 stretches for 30 seconds each only takes 5 minutes – timing it prevents interruptions and distractions so you know you are truly getting the most out of your workout.

I use this to keep me honest while doing Physical Therapy reps. It also lets the trainer know when I've finished a rep so they can work with someone else until I "come up for air." It is easy to change the setting to match what the trainer wants and I can set a beep so "everyone" knows where I'm at in the cycle or use the vibrate setting to keep things quiet. Love the rechargeable version. I've used this every day for a month and it still shows a full charge. Uses USB micro to recharge. Had an AAA cell version before and that worked the same way, but I think the Charge is worth the few extra $. The backlight comes on automatically when first activated and stays on if you are programming the intervals, but turns off while running. Makes it easy to set changing intervals on the fly. I keep one in my gym bag so I'll always have it, and one at home for the days when I don't have a PT session.

Very useful for maintaining consistent intervals between sets. This version is rechargeable and the battery lasts a very long time. The beep is also loud enough to hear even in the noisy gym environment.

Great timer. It remembers your setup from previous use which is nice. The directions that come with it are in 6 different languages but aren't in great detail. I would highly suggest visiting their website (gymboss.com) and look under Help for detailed setup and use instructions.I heard about this timer at a fastpitch softball umpire clinic. The rules state that teams are only allowed 1 minute between innings and the defense can be penalized if they take longer. Teams were taking 2 to 3 minutes between innings so umpires are now encouraged by the National Federation to enforce the 1 minute rule.Umpires are using this timer to set up 2 alarms running back to back, 45 seconds for pitcher to warm up and 15 seconds for catcher to throw down. So I'm trying it out. When I press the Start button, these two alarms run. At 45 sec, I feel the vibration from the belt clip and tell the catcher to throw down. What I like about the Vibrate setting is first, being outside, I may not hear the alarm and secondly, you can set the length of vibration. I have mine set at 2 seconds so I don't miss it. All I have to remember to do now is hit the start button at the end of each inning to begin the timer.

Quite easy to setup once you read the instructions. Bleeps are loud enough when running outdoors ( maybe too loud even on low ). Great little device if doing sets of exercises.

I have some repetitive cycles of PT exercises and it’s easier to use this timer than setting my fit bit or phone as you can just touch a button to restart instead of having to swipe a screen or fiddle with having to get a screen back up. I would prefer a batter instead of ISB charging. Have not had it long into see how long a charge lasts.

Sure you could download an interval timer app onto your phone, but I've found the few that I've tried to be unintuitive and clunky, plus you have to lug your phone around the gym or on the mat or wherever.Pros:* Rechargeable* Easy to set rep amount, rep time, rest time, and the alert function.* Backlit display* You can opt between a beep alert, a vibrate alert (handy when trying to remain incognito), or both at once.* Great battery life* Clip for belt or waistband, akin to a Motorola pager of the 90's.Cons:* Just one... I wish it had a different sequence of beeps or vibrations (alerts) between start of rest and end of rest. The alerts are the same, 2 beeps or 2 vibrations signaling start of rest and end of rest, and sometimes, if I'm not paying attention, I get confused and start the rep when I'm supposed to rest or vice versa. If one beep/vibration signaled the start of the rest period, and two signaled the end, it'd be less confusing for me. That's it. Clever little device other wise.

Love this timer. Saves me a ton of time. No longer get lost on the phone or daze off looking at the tv. Also rest is a huge stress factor for hypertrophy. So keeping rest consistent absolutely love. It does take 5 min to learn how to use, but after that it’s smooth sailing.Charge works for 4 hour sessions 3 times a week, at least. So it’s great.Would highly recommend.

I originally purchased my first Gymboss unit back in 2010. My wife and I used the interval "walk-run" setting to train for our first marathon. We used it so often, we purchased another one for a his and hers companion. Then life got in the way and I put consistent running sessions on a shelf for years. So the Gymboss units sat in a drawer. After some time of sitting dormant ,for at least 5 years, one of the units lost it ability to vibrate, which is my preferred alert. The other was loaned/given to a friend who wanted to do interval exercise routines. After getting back into running in the last month, I knew it was time to get a new Gymboss. The new unit has a sturdier and more durable look, fit and finish. It is also a more polished and refined appearance. It has the updated rechargeable battery and a very visible backlight digital display. The new unit works and performs just as it should. It really helps by reminding me to take my scheduled 30 second interval walk. Just enough time to recover for my next run interval. It is simple to program with the supplied directions. If you any difficulties with programing, there are numerous Youtube videos on "how to" for the Gymboss unit. It is a cheap and long lasting running companion that gives you the gentle reminder to not over do it. Conversely, it also reminds you to "get back at it". I love this helpful little friend !
