I am a guitar tech & was upgrading a very expensive guitar removing every NON-RESONANT material & replacing it with either brass or titanium. I wanted this work but there are lots of issues involved with installing a height adjustable nut as many others have stated. HERE IS THE SOLUTION : After purchasing every type that I could find (some said BRASS but they were plated, what B. S.) & after endless comparisons & study I found that this particular unit works best if you throw away the screws & the bass plate. That method is too unstable altogether so here's what I did. I made various wooden shims of identical neck material & piloted 2 holes in each aligned with the upper nut half utilizing 2 very short & narrow screws with tiny heads that flushed perfectly with the nut face. Now I have not only the perfect string height but rock solid stability for dead accurate inntonation as well as a kit of shims that can swiftly change for different gauges of strings. THIS IS PERFECT! I hope this company sees this because they could not only save money in manufacturing but also a provide a COMPLETELY UNIVERSAL ADJUSTABLE guitar nut that anyone could easily install. I hope this helps ya'all -

It dropped right in. Ppl commented on the fact that this nut tilts back towards the tuners and i found that to ne the case as well. So, intonation and string height needs to be redone after installation. Gave it one star cuz i bought a new nut and got a used one with glue still on the base and string wear in the string slots. Sounds good and very stable on gtr.

Direct replacement for my Chibson. Now if you go too low on your string height you can just raise it. Sounds great too. I’ll be trying the brass version too.

Very easy to adjust nut height, sturdy and quality feels great, however, when changing strings it can be challenging since you can’t set the nut to stay it just always falls off but when on, I got my nut height just right and accuracy is very important for overall intonation. I would recommend dialing in your height, add a dab of locktite so it doesn’t change when swapping out strings

Purchased both the brass and the titanium versions. The brass version consists of two pieces. The base and the top. The base is thinner and has two shallow holes drilled in it to accept the bottom of the setscrews that are used to adjust the height of the top. The only problem is that there is a 0.25 inch difference in the width of the holes in the base compared to the top which basically means the setscrews do not line up with the corresponding depressions in the base. Mystified, I opened the package of the titanium one and dry fit the pieces and the setscrews and holes on that one were in perfect alignment. It was outside the return window so using my drill press and a 5/64 drill bit, I removed the setscrews and used the holes in the top piece as a drill guide to carefully drill new shallow holes in the base in the proper locations. Because the brass is fairly soft, this method worked great. I was able to successfully mount the base in my ersatz Les Paul and mount and adjust the top piece on top of the base. With the holes perfectly aligned now, the setscrews keep the top from shifting. The nut works great and while I am disappointed with the defect, I was glad to be able to salvage it and use it. With a new set of super slinky's and my Seymour Duncan humbuckers, I really love the interesting/unique resonance the brass nut provides.

This nut was completely useless - it became unstable if I raised it upwards. Adjustability, in other words, led to serious instability.

This made my kit guitar set up a breeze. It’s brass, so it resonates nicely, the slots are already cut, it fits loosely where the previous nut was, but string tension keeps it in place. I would definitely buy this again.

I thought I'd be able to tap out the old nut but was a pig of a job and accidentally removed part of there fingerboard in the process as the nut was glued on all surfaces. Glued fretboard flake back, left overnight to cure, sanded flat and lemon oiled so it blended back in but an uncomfortable moment of two when looked pretty nasty. Second point is that the base into which the LP nut fits is angled back like the headstock whereas this thing needs to sit pretty much parallel to the fretboard. I ended up filling in part of the hole left by the old nut so that this thing would have a flat base that is parallel to the face of the fretboard, if it is angle back then you end up with a gap between the new nut and the face of the fretboard. The end result is functionally good, looks good from a distance but a a little messy on the sides of the neck where I had to fill the old gap. So it well made but beware that this is not a simple switch out and replace job. I'd also recommend that it would be better if the base plate was wedge shaped when veiw from the end given the the LP nut slots are at and angle to the face of the fretboard.

I generally cut my own guitar nuts from blanks, but was in a pinch on a project and thought I'd give this a try. WOW. This thing was perfect. I installed it in seconds, and the adjustable side made it easy to put the strings right down on the deck without worrying about cutting a nut slot too low. It was only supposed to be a temporary fix, but I liked it so much that I glued the base down, and the top part sits into the grooves well enough that the pressure of the string hold it in place with no slipping or stability issues at all. Tuning hold very well, even doing strong 2nd fret bends on the G and B strings. I like this so much I ordered another for a problematic SG. For the cost, you can't NOT try one. ;-)
