Doesn't work very well, this thing is kinda gimmicky and not worth the current price in my opinion. If you want to use a bow on your guitar, just get a violin or cello bow. As far as I've found, there's not really a way to adjust the tension either. The "pick" doesn't work as a pick, and I'm not sure what the rosin actually is.

I bought a full sized violin bow for my guitar a few years ago, and couldn’t get much more than a squeak out of it, even after trying for a few weeks. This small bow, designed for use specifically with guitars is in a different class. Within a few minutes of opening the passage, I’d resined the bow and was drawing loud, clear, violin-like sounds out of my guitar. The bow is meant to slip between the strings - so you can play one or two strings at a time, depending on how you angle the bow. There is a pick built into the bow at one end and although initially it was strange and uncomfortable, after working for awhile with it, I’ve grown accustomed to it, and to switching (if not always smoothly!) between bowed and picked notes. At this point its not much more than a curiosity for me- but I can see that with some practice I could be making some serious sounds with it!

I have zero violin skills, but that didn’t stop me from picking up this bow and attempting to make my guitar sound like a fiddle. Because why not? If John Anderson can make Seminole Wind sound legendary, I can at least try to channel some of that magic. This bow arrived well-packaged and solidly built, ready to turn my guitar into a stringed experiment. Bonus points for the built-in pick—because sometimes you need to strum between your fiddle impressions. It even comes with a lifetime supply of rosin (seriously, I’ll probably pass it down to my grandkids). The process? Sand the rosin, rub the bow hair, place the bow between the strings, and start bowing like you mean it. The result? A sound that’s somewhere between “hauntingly beautiful” and “what in the world is happening?” But hey, I’m excited to see where this goes. This might just be the best thing I’ve heard since discovering the harp guitar. Let the experimental bluegrass begin!

I'm a professional guitar player who specializes in atmospheric and ambient textures. My primary source of income is performing with an alt-rock band with secondary revenue streams from doing sound design and various studio work for TV, film and advertisements. In my almost 30 years of playing guitar, and almost 20 years of touring, I've never seen a device like this. I've used both a conventional violin bow and an E-bow extensively but both are incredibly cumbersome. This device is a really smart alternative to the aforementioned options. I like everything about it other than the fact that you're still gonna end up with rosin on your strings after using it; a feeling I despise. For that reason, I'm probably only ever gonna use this in niche recording situations where I then change my strings shortly there after.

This is more of a novelty item. It does make a sound if you use it properly but it was used a couple of times and has been gathering dust in my music room every since.

Well packaged and the quality looks and feels good. I’ve been playing guitar for more than 45yrs, I found this difficult to use at first, but once you get past the learning curve, it can create some interesting sounds. I found it difficult to get any sustain though. It requires a lot of rosin to achieve ANY sound whatsoever. I see this as a novelty item at best, but your milage may vary. It does leave your guitar body and strings covered in roain dust, that was not expected. The price is decent if you want to give it a try though

As a led zeppelin fan, I remember buying an actual violin bow to replicate some of the Dazed and Confused guitar sounds. I was quite surprised when this showed up, with actual hair and rosin. It might take you some time to get used to rosining up the bow, but once you do, it does work. It's a simple product and not hard to use. I find so far, just an hour playing with it, that it works best on unwound strings. I didn't use it through an amp, but it isn't creating enough volume to be of much use without amplification. If you want to use any individual strings besides the outside Es, you'll need to be using an acoustic, or have really good muting. Chords work as well. Price is pretty good. I'm not sure this is going to revolutionize anyone's playing, but I can already see a couple of places that'll I'll try it out.
