The Guinness Story

It all starts with just one man, but it's not down to a single 'eureka' moment. The history of GUINNESS is a stirring tale of inspiration, dedication, ingenuity and effort. It's over two centuries of sublime brewing craft, a remarkable knack for spreading the word and more than a few leaps of faith. It's the story of how a unique Irish stout became, with a little magic, one of the World's best-loved beers.

It takes adventurous spirit and irrepressible ingenuity to do things the GUINNESS way. From our humble beginnings in 1759 to the present day, we’ve gone to extraordinary lengths to bring you exceptional beer. But, while many milestones mark the way on our long and illustrious path, we’re not ones to rest on our laurels. As we like to put it: our greatest work is yet to come.

Multiple Ways to Enjoy

Half and Half

In a 20 oz. pint glass, pour Guinness Blonde American Lager first. Using a pouring spoon or inverted teaspoon, pour Guinness Draught over the top of your spoon so it disperses evenly.

The dark stout will float on a layer above the lager beer. Fill the pint to the rim and enjoy.

Black Velvet

The story goes that Guinness Extra Stout and Champagne were first combined to mark Prince Albert’s death in 1861, when the steward at Brook’s Club in London ordered that even the Champagne should be in mourning, dressed all in black.

A curiously silky, velvety drink where the effervescence and dry biscuit notes of sparkling wine provide a curious coupling with Guinness Extra Stout, served in a Champagne flute for a touch of decadence.

Black and Tan

Fill a 20 Oz. pint glass with a Pale Ale of your choosing.

Pour Guinness Draught slowly over the Guinness Engraved Pouring Spoon slowly until the glass is full.

Relax, and enjoy your perfectly poured Black and Tan Responsibly!

The directions are clear and easy to follow, and with just a small amount of practice this allows you to make a beautiful layered beverage - just don't pour the Guinness in too quickly, or you'll ruin the effect. Sláinte mhaith!

I poured a perfect Half & Half on the first try!! I used Yuengling Lager and, of course, Guinness. (See pic) I've read other reviews that said that it would immediately mix together, some that said to let the Guinness warm up a bit before pouring. I haven't found this to be the case at all! After reading the other reviews I decided to try it with a room temperature Guinness for my first attempt and it worked perfectly. Then I decided to try it with a cold Guinness, and again it worked perfectly!! So far I've only used Yuengling Lager, so I can't say for sure if it would work as well with another brand.I'm very satisfied with this purchase!Ok, enough review writing, time for a Half & Half!! Cheers!!

It's a Guinness black & tan spoon, there's not much else to it. If you want to pour a successful Black & Tan or any other mixed beer variation, you need a spoon like this to achieve a reasonable success rate. The old tablespoon from the utensil drawer doesn't work very often as an improvised method (not for me at any rate). I have used this standard Guinness spoon and the BruTool (a pretty cool looking turtle contraption) and they both work pretty well. For under $10, you might as well buy them both. They make for great conversation as you solve the world's problems with your friends and put back a few cold ones, perfecting your pour along the way. I've found that these beer pouring tools are great gifts to your beer-drinking buddies. If you have friends like me, the gift will get used and once again, for a few bucks, you can't go wrong.Happy pouring!
