This shovel works great. The problem is the handle. Everyone who used this while roofing my house has blisters on their hands. I bought another shovel from Home Depot (for cheapier), it had a d shipped handle and caused no blisters. Love the length of this shovel though.

These mini rip bars are awesome for pulling up shingles- especially if you want to rip one layer at a time QUICKLY. I have no issues with ripping the shingle off in one piece using this mini rip bar, then going back with my hammer and pulling the nails quickly. Or you can use the little hole on the back of the mini rip bar to quickly pull the nails out. I rip a couple rows of shingles (keeping the shingles in tact, for easier clean up after) and then clean up after myself by pulling nails afterward. This is ripping from the front. QUICK, EASY, fast clean up afterward. This tool is also excellent for use at the bottom edging of the roof where the ice shield is, for your "ladder work". I also use this as a way to get underneath the tar paper and lift it up, keeping the paper in tact as much as possible so I can roll it up across the entire roof-Instead of using the large rip bars to rip the shingles which SHREDs the tar paper underneath, shreds and mangles all the shingles into little bits, bends the heads, wastes energy and makes a MESS, and are just clunky. They injure many shoulders.I also like that the mini rip bar is small enough to maneuver near the metal flashing and gently pull up nails without damaging the flashing or using a flat bar, in most cases. It's small enough for me to use for several (4 ) hours at a time, without getting sore biceps, forearms or even hand cramping. It's great for the very ridge of the roof, ripping the hip up, too.I use the large rip bars for certain pitches of roofs. But, I have to say that this mini rip bar certainly has some beautiful advantages. The mini rip bar doesn't have the right amount of leverage to pull up the nails WITH the shingle. However, with the little tool at the back of the mini rip bar or just using your hammer, the nails really are not difficult to go back and clean up in a minute or two. I prefer efficiency of my energy and doing a clean job.

Robuste, idéale pour les petites surfaces, les endroits restreints et pour retirer sur le bord du toit. Pour les plus grandes surfaces, prendre une pelle à manche long

Bought this to tear one roof off, not expecting much because it was so cheap. Was very surprised how well it both tore off shingles and pulled nails. Great investment!

If you’re stripping a roof you need this or something similar. Wouldn’t definitely recommend.

Spring project to replace the roof of my garage pulling old curled singles and aging sheating. This tool not only ran right through the shingles like hot knife through butter it gave us perfect leverage to get under sheating and pry it right off.I would have paid triple for this tool. It's well made and while it's only heavy side it doesn't flex and the weight help push through the shingles. I also used it to pry off all the fascia and gable trim

Well made, a little heavy, great for tall roofers.

This was the first time using a shingle stripper tool. It was great. It made shingle removal go very fast. I used it to pull most of the old nails too. It was faster than using a claw hammer.

I am age 69 but it took me only 3 hours to remove 3 tab shingles in a 40 feet by 7=1/2 feet area or about 3 Squares. I selected this tool to get the leverage and I can assure you that leverage is no problem at all due to the long handle. Two issues buyers should be aware of: (1) The photo shows a 4:12 slope which means you can stand up while prying the shingles. However, your back is bent over so I highly recommend a back support when using this tool. (2) while prying the shingles, most of the nails remained in place in the deck because most shingles tore off at the nails. You do have to go back and remove the nails separately using this tool or a claw hammer so this makes this job a two pass process. However, I was surprised how easy it was and very little muscle was needed. The 1 square of shingle removal per hour does not include nail removal and shingle removal from the rooftop. A younger guy can probably go faster than I can. I highly recommend this tool. One other note: if your roof is steep which cannot stand while using this tool, you will be better off using the shorter D handle shingle removal than this longer shingle removing tool.

I like this tool a lot, I can get a good roll going fairly easy as opposed to a regular tear off shovel. Compared to a regular tear off shovel its heavier but I think it works better, I like how it has a steeper angle at the head and longer handle so I don't have to bend over as much (bending over is still part of it and unavoidable but, if you dont have to keep your handle almost parallel with the deck, your not totally bent over the entire time like my partner in the background of the picture). This is a bit heavier because of the all metal build but that gives it momentum and good bit of strength. It also worked well at pulling up decking, the steep angle made it easy to get under the sheets and have a good prying effect off of a rafter. I had no worries about breaking the handle because it's very rugged. The handle could use a different grip bc the back end of it is squared off and wears on my palm a lot, it also would be nice to have a spot I can kick to get it under something.. All of this can be fixed fairly easy by welding a bar on the head and adding a ball to round out the back of the handle.. great tool for the price

It really doesn't matter which type you get unless you are doing it for a living, the extra work of a bad compared to a good one is minimal. This is a very good one, but with a little extra effort a regular spade works too.
