This is heavy enough to feel sturdy, but I'm not completely convinced of it being great quality simply because it looks incredibly rustic. It also is not as inexpensive as others, so I'm not convinced of the value either.

I recently had to replace some shingles on my shed due to a leak, and this shingle remover made the job much easier. It's a simple tool, but it's well designed. The D grip handle is comfortable to hold, even when you're working for a while. It gives you good leverage, which is important when you're dealing with stubborn shingles. The blade slides under the shingles pretty easily. It's definitely better than trying to use a shovel or some other makeshift tool. The length of the handle is good, too. It let me remove shingles without having to bend over too much, which saved my back. It feels sturdy and well made, so I think it will last me through future roofing projects.

This is much lighter than the one bought at a home store many years ago. The problem is that without the extra weight in the head, you don't have as much thrust when popping the nails. The good part about this is that the foot (the part on the back that is used as leverage) is one piece of bent steel so there is no flexing at the welds that eventually broke on my old one. In checking online, I found that the husky version at big orange is about half the price of this one. It does have the welded foot not the bent one like this. Considering that my old one lasted for many years (I'm not a professional roofer), I could actually buy 2 at big orange for the price of this one.

This shingle tear off tool works ok. It does not work as easily as others I've used in the past as it is lacking the weight and heft in the base. This lack of heft makes it harder to get it up under materials you're tearing off. This in turn puts more stress on your arms as you have to apply more force to make up for the lack of weight. That being said even with the lack of weight it seems to be better constructed that the other ones I've used as far as flex and build quality but again your doing more of the the work than the actual tool is as far as generating force. So it's not so much of one being better than the other but more of a trade off. When using the tool it still works great to remove shingles and sheeting as well as all kinds of materials, and definitely works better than not having one of these at all. This one I think will last longer than the others I've owned but again lacks some of the power due to it being lighter.

I was eyeballing these at big orange store recently because I'm going to be replacing the roof on my garage this spring. Then I found this and thought I'd give it a try. It arrived and I'm pleased. It's just as robust as the one I was looking at in the store. I like the long handle so I can minimize the amount I have to be on this small roof that has sketchy bracing underneath. Now I just have to get my technique down.

Best - the handle is designed to be more comfortable for the user but also give you more power which means less time and effort. We are just your standard do it yourself homeowners with a few rentals and a lot of outbuildings on our farm. As we get older we need to use the right tools so we can still get the job done without the extra work from using what we have as we did in our youth. This is a beast and will work great this next summer when we reroof our guest house. We have been procrastinating until we can't any longer without risking damage to the underlayment. Seems affordable, well made, and certainly pretty substantial. I tried it out on a ramp we have roofed and it was exciting to see how much easier it is to strip shingles with the right tool.

This shingle removers looks sturdy. Only time will tell if it will hold up on a roof. I lost my old shingle remover and ordered this for a roof we need to replace on a rental in the spring. It looks pretty sturdy. The teeth are a little closer together than a remember on my old one. It is pretty heavy and doesn't have flex in the handle.
