I often go on group camping trips, so after numerous uses, it still works perfectly for coffee making. Most importantly, it's not glass! So it's safe to use on camp sites.

Product works as intended but the adhesive used to fuse the insulating layers side’s to its bottom is horrible. It does not withstand the heat from making coffee. Seems this product was designed and yet never used to make coffee unless mine just has defective glue. Major flaw using an adhesive that is seemingly not temperature resistant to boiling water.

This is awesome. Ive tried every kind there is and this is my favorite camp coffee maker. I think the main reservoir should be metal instead of plastic but that's just my opinion. Worth it.

I had one of these years ago, and remembered being quite pleased with it. So as a bit of a "Coffee Nerd" -always looking-out for ways to vary/enhance my beloved daily brew - I thought I'd order a JavaPress Cafetiere. Now, I realise that this piece of Coffee-Making equipment is designed mainly for those wishing to enjoy a decent Cup of Coffee on an Outdoor Trip, but some of its features also make it an attractive option indoors, most notably the very practical reality that the carefully insulated "walls" keep your Coffee warm, without recourse to a continuing heat source.3 Points worth noting for "Best Results" : (i) your Coffee needs to be ground pretty coarsely ; (ii) you should err on the generous side as regards the quantity of ground Coffee you use ; (iii) it's a good idea to stir the Coffee in the cylinder with a large spoon, prior to the "Standing" & "Plunging" phases.Oh, and remember, if you wish to enjoy the considerable benefits of this Cafetiere, it's a relatively expensive option (indulgence?) at almost Euro 50....

Nice and light. Makes enough for a couple of large cups. It's true that the thing is slightly tapered, and you would think some grounds would escape because of it, but that has not been the case. Seems durable enough, too. Overall this one is a winner. Very happy with the purchase.

I was worried that it might have a taste or plastic or rubber because of the reviews. I had looked at several different travel coffee presses. I purchased another one also and kept the GSI. I really like that it is the size of a full coffee press. The GSI holds 32 oz of fluid. None of the other ones did that. It keeps the coffee hot because of the insulated sleeve. No grounds come out when I pour. I don’t have a taste of rubber or plastic at all nor a smell of those things either. I tend to be quite sensitive to odors and tastes. It is also very light. Much lighter than the others. I feel really happy about this purchase.

8 years ago I reluctantly bought GSI's commuter java press because the camping french presses I had used before required you to coarse grind your coffee and even then they did not work good at all. but the salesman swore that it would work and would work with already ground (store bought ) coffee too. after 3 weeks camping in the mountains in North Carolina I loved the commuter press, so much so that when I got home, I threw my coffee maker out and use it to make my coffee everyday since then. I bought this french press to use when I have company just like my commuter press this one tastes better than what my coffee maker made, but now I can make coffee for guests. I use both at home or when camping. I wont go back to a regular coffee maker and after 8 years of using the GSI coffee presses, why would i?
