I had tried the earlier model (electromatic junior jet ii) at a Guitar Center a few months ago and enjoyed it a lot. I'm generally a guitarist but had been wanting to pick up a decent bass to play around and record with. I love the shorter scale of this bass, it feels very natural coming from a guitar standpoint. It's still a bass and feels and sounds like one, but it is a little easier to navigate the fretboard. It would be perfect for anyone smaller in stature or age, but I certainly don't feel like it's too small for someone of any size (I'm an average-sized 30-something man). Unlike most basses, I can actually let go of the neck, and the headstock doesn't plunge down like a stack of bricks. It's actually balanced and I can take my hands off the bad and my strap still holds it in position.Out of the box it was only slightly out of tune, and played smoothly with no fret buzz. I may upgrade the strings in the bearish future, but honestly it is playing and sounding great. I did immediately swap in straplocks. There are a few tone/gain knobs and a volume knob, that help to fine tune your tone, and I can get a decent spread of sounds. They are gold and are not marked.I got it in red and it's a very dark wine red. There is wood grain and it looks incredible. The black pick guard makes the red seem even darker. It looks really really nice, and looks like it costs more than it actually does.10/10 highly recommend.
