Sounds so good it must be illegal! Man made ivory. Compared to standard materials, you'll hear crystal clear bell-like high end, big open lows, and a noticeable increase in overall sustain. Unlike natural materials such as bone and ivory, TUSQ is consistent from piece to piece. Without a doubt, this is the best synthetic material on the market, and it cuts and files beautifully.

This nut absolutely cleared up my tuning issues on an Epiphone LP Studio. Strings are easy to tune now and they stay in tune. Only wish the nut had been a little truer to the original size, but i get that the nut has to accommodate a range of different guitars. It was a bit taller, wider, and thicker than my original one so had to do more sanding. That being said, I'm glad I got this! Didn't even need graphite or anything to help lubricate it more.

This nut is great. Improves my guitar's sound and tuning stability more than I expected.

This was a perfect replacement for the factory nut. I did file a very small amount off both ends as the width was just a tad too wide. As to the string heights, I used #120 sand paper on a flat surface and carefully sanded the bottom to get the string heights to between 0.15 to 0.12mm at the first fret. I do not recommend filing the slots themselves as then you will have to file down the top of the nut to have the nut shaped properly which is a lot more work. The string depths in the nut as set by the factory are perfect. Filing the bottom is tedious but fool-proof. You sand, reinstall, check the string height and repeat until you get the clearance you want. Go slow with this and it will be perfect. My guitar plays as smoothly as my Gibson Les Paul R9.

This is the 4th graphtech nut I have purchased and as with the others, it’s great. I bought this one for an old epiphone special model I rebuilt. It was almost an exact fit, just had to file down the string slots a little. Works as expected, guitar stays in tune better ( even with the original crappy old tuning machines) and guitar has sustain for days. I did also install a new roller bridge which helps too. Definitely recommend.

My Epiphone Les Paul studio was not bad with the stock plastic nut, but I know a quality tusq or bone nut will really help to stabilize keeping the instrument in tune. I have worked on several of my own guitars both acoustic and electric. I am new to doing my own luthier work, but after a recent success doing my own set up on a fender Strat, I have found a lot of satisfaction in doing my own work. Not to mention the money savings. This so far was the easiest one to work on. After some very miner sanding to the thickness, it dropped right in and was set to factory string height at the first fret. I sanded the height a little more to bring the action down just a bit more and find it plays like a much more expensive guitar! There are many you tube “how to” videos that will walk you through the steps. It really is easy to do if you take you time and have even the most basic skills. Oh the nut was a bit wide. Only a little, so that you don’t have to sand if you don’t want to. I did the xtra sanding to make it perfect.I paid a tech at guitar center to do a setup for me a few years back, I feel my job was at least as good and maybe better. You can do it!

This will not work with a 2014 (Aug) Epiphone ES339 Pro. The e string is bottomed out on the fretboard. The B string also buzzes. That being said this is a solid product. My main reason for the purchase, besides the cheap plastic nut, which does work, was my G string is a pain. If I tune and slightly tug on the G and EA strings I get a "tink" and out of tune. After I spend an hour trying to install it (working on width and length) I decided to play a while on the EADG strings and really loved the tone and tuning. You can tell a big a big difference. Bends resulted in the string going right back to tuned. I pushed on the strings above the nut and they did slide freely over the nut, right back to tuned. Mainly no hang ups on the dreaded G string. I believe if this fit properly I would really enjoy it. Didn't notice much of a difference in tone.

I purchased these to complete restorations on a few very old acoustic guitars I'm working on. One, the 1935 May Bell had an old wood nut badly broken and crumbling. This was a perfect replacement nut, fitting an looking just right after some alterations. Almost every single new nut or saddle bone has to be ground down to be a perfect fit.I prefer low action so took the height down a bit and needed to grind the width down a bit too.I would have preferred using bone but wanted to stay with the original colors and this one will last another 80 years.I bought an extra one for a future project. The price was right. I am glad I made this purchase, it's just what I was hoping for. It will actually improve the sound of the guitar over the old wooden nut and I wouldn't ever consider using a plastic nut. I don't know why some manufacturers even use plastic, Bone and plastic are about the same price.Anyway, this is a 5 star purchase
