I was quite disappointed by the quality of this orchard grass for my guinea pigs. The pieces are super short 2-3 inches, so there is no fluffing it for foraging. It immediately gets flat and peed/pooped on. It looks like lawn clippings.

I was a bit scared to try out this hay since my bunny is quite picky, we've tried a bunch of different brands and types of hay but this one seems great and my bunny really LOVED it! nice smell, minor dust and highly recommended >:D

I've been foster caring rabbits & guinea pigs for over 20 ysr. I've been thru hell & back on the hay circuit. I did my research on this farm. This Co. Is family owned and grows their hays on their own farm. They don't. sub it out to God knows what growers, like Small Pet Select, etc. doesI order the 10lb mini bales of 2nd cutting Timothy & Orchard grass. I mixed them together in a large token. My guinea pig heard loves the balance of both mixed together. There's very little waste. At least 75% of rabbit- guinea pig diet requires a good quality hay. Less waste means they're getting proper nutrition & it helps to keep their teeth trim. When you email the farm, they always get back to you forth with. They don't use pesticides/ other sprays on there hey crops. Many hay Cos throw their hay in a box, leaving it vulnerable to rain, snow, etc while it's sitting on front doorsteps getting soaked, moldy & ruined! Not this Co! Each hay bail is carefully packaged & boxed to protect the hay from getting soaked in the rain. If you want good quality, healthy & consistent hay from a USA family farm, this is the hay you want. They take the growing of hay seriously and your fur babies will reap the rewards of the farm's good efforts. Grandpa's Best is awin-win for your for babies health & quality of life. p.s. A word of caution about hays: NEVER buy any hay- hay treats unless they are USA grown! If the company doesn't state what country the hay is grown in, then don't buy it! Always check with your USA growets to ensure they don't use sprays on their hays either, because some of them do.

I have subscribed to regular 10lb deliveries of this hay (orchard grass) for about 4 years now. It always arrives fresh, green, tender and sweet smelling and fluffs up really nicely! Never any moisture or mold. The stems are all soft and tender, different from other varieties of hay (e.g. Timothy) which naturally include some thicker stems. My guinea pigs popcorn when I refill it and eat it up! I live in Hawaii, and I have not been able to find better quality hay anywhere for any price. I also appreciate the fact that such a large amount of hay can be stored so nicely and neatly. Some reviewers have noted dust--I have observed that some bags are a little dustier than others, but on the whole, the dust level is quite low.

I have 7 Guinea pigs. They are super picky about their hay and food. Asked my bf how much we were spending on hay at PetSmart for 2 bags every month. Upwards of $40 easy. Did the math with this box of hay compared to the amount from the other bags. Figured for the price why not try it out? All 7 go absolutely crazy every morning for this stuff. We just replaced the cage liner yesterday and normally by now the bottom of the cage would be covered in hay. Not the case with this. They’re eating everything not just digging for the fluffy bits. It smells really good too especially in comparison to the old stuff. It’s a little bit dryer but it’s mostly the thicker hay bits than the thin pokey stuff. Anyway, we have it on subscribe and save and are very happy and impressed with the quality and will for sure continue the subscription. It’s hard to find good quality for a good price that they actually eat more than they waste. So I highly recommend if you also have super picky and spoiled Guinea pigs.

I’ve been mixed on writing this review for some time. I had to seek out an alternative to Timothy hay due to a new allergy in the house and this grass was recommended as a great substitution and it truly is. When I initially ordered this, I was disappointed by how dry the grass was, that there weren’t as many “flowery” parts, and by the derbies in it (leaves and a few/occasional sticks).Despite my reservations, I have to review this based on how my guinea girls respond to this product and they seem to love it. Of course they love grass and hay, but this brand in particular sends them into a tizzy. When the hay bin comes out, the girls start wheeking, zooming around the cage, and popcorning. They have never done this for a hay/grass before; they don’t even do it for fresh veg. For me, their happiness with the product is far more important than the few minor reservations I’ve had. Their happiness has made me truly appreciate this product and I now have this auto sent each month. The way the grass comes bundled as an actual tiny bale, surprised me the first time and added to my concerns about the grass being too dry, but fiscally speaking, I have far less hay waste with this bale because of the way it’s packaged and the way I am able to store and serve it. Worth every dollar!

Gotten tired of expensive dusty hay from pet stores, I turned to Amazon and found this. The first two shipments were on target. The hay smells fresh, and looks green, 10 lb densely compressed into relatively small volume bale that does not take much space. My guinea pugs loved it, and one bale lasted us almost a month. However, hay that came in the last shipment falls apart into dust, almost impossible to pick a stem to chew on. Piggies didnt care for it, and now I`m stuck with 10lb of hay flour. On a positive side, it is really geen and nice smelling hay flour. I wonder if I should return it.
