This item is no toy. It's made of heavy duty plastic. The grabber mechanism is wider than what I had. And holds onto the item until released. I recommend this device to anyone that has problems bending to reach an object.

I've bought six of these over the past few years (3 pairs), for me they last about a year (around 6-8 months each individual one), usually break at the cable near the trigger for grabbing. I've bought other brands and they break in the same manner.I still give them five stars because I use them a lot; we're raising two great grand-baby toddlers, and I'm chasing them around all day long picking up toys and whatever else they throw down with the grabber. I think they eventually get worn out because I pick up stuff that's too heavy for the grabber and I have to squeeze the trigger harder, putting the extra pressure on the trigger-cable.So, If I can get through half a year with this thing without bending over to pick up toys, then as far as I'm concerned, it's paid for itself :).

I have spinal problems, this has made a big difference in my life. I even use the grabber to remove laundry from the washing machine. A wonderful help mate.

I purchased this recently because I had an injury that prevented me from being able to bend down. I wanted something that would fold up so I could keep it in my bag and this worked well. It folds up easily and it picks things up well. The magnetic tip isn't very strong, but it will help with small metal items. Check the measurements before you order to make sure it's long enough for you. I have pretty short arms and this was still long enough for me, but it's not as long as some others that I have seen.

I have been confined to a bed and wheelchair for months. Those things that you don't give second thought about are 'just over there.' Whatever you need is just a few inches to a couple feet beyond your reach. My wife gave me a solid 'claw' about 30 inches long. It was very nice and I love it. The problem was, carrying it around. It was unwieldy and it caught a few peoples' attention when I accidentally poked them in sensitive places, not realizing I was pointed directly at them as I moved about in my wheelchair..I bought this two pack because the price was right. More on that in a moment. When I first got them, I carried one in my lap. One day, I taped a length of plastic pipe to my wheelchair that had the correct inside diameter for the folded grabber to drop into. Perfect! The claw at the end of the grabber can be turned straight up and down or horizontally. It can also be set at 45 degrees between. This is handy feature that helps to keep you from maneuvering this like some arcade game.Another bonus is a very powerful magnet on one side of the claw. I dropped a set of keys that refused to be picked up, but when I remembered the magnet, I was able to snag the steel key ring. The grabber has given me a measure of freedom. I can pick up my clothing on the floor. I can grab things off of the shelf. My wife mentioned that I can pick up the stuff that missed the garbage can. The portability means I can do this wherever I go.Words of caution.First, look at how the folding section works. When you pull the sections apart to fold look where the fabric cable goes through the connector. If you don't get the cable to go directly into that slot, it can get frayed.Second, when locking the grabber to use it, try to mate the two sections aligned to each other as closely as possible. If you constantly cause the two sections to drag against each other, the connection gets sloppy.Third, if you have been using a solid claw, be aware that this one will pick up slightly less weight and the grip the claw has is a bit weaker, too. On a single fold like this, it is only a little bit different. I bought one nearly 4 feet long, but it folds in 3 places. You can tell a big difference in strength.I gave my wife the second grabber. She uses it at night to get whatever the dogs are insisting they need. And, she can grab the stuff the dogs have knocked to the floor. Like her glasses.

It's certainly performs better than the cheap ones at 5 Below.Good grib, solid hold and the two pack is reasonably priced for a quality grabber.

I have tried a lot of grabbers. There is no point in scrimping on a grabber. Get the one or ones that do what you need. This one is better than some but not the best.Pros: nice colors, light weight, folds if you like that kind of thing, good grip, tight grab.Cons: light weight round tube. This will break under a not too heavy item. Can't pick up water bottle without bend.I purchased this for my bathroom. It's tiny, so walking aids don't fit, but I have grab bars everywhere. Sometimes I need to pick up a towel or paper roll or a fallen shampoo bottle and my grabber isn't handy. I purchased this for that purpose. It will pick up my towel or paper roll. It will pick up my reduced size shampoo bottle. It will not pick up a full size full shampoo bottle without bowing (likely eventually breaking). It's OK for what I want it for. But if you want one that hefts some weight, spend the money and get an Unger or Ettore grip and grab. The ettore has similar grip tips and a square tube that is stronger. The Unger is the strongest, imo, but the tips aren't as good for some things. This one suffices. I would not likely buy again unless I needed on that folds.
