Traditional thumbscrew-style locking functionality with Gotoh technology.
Pull the string taught through the tuner hole, and with a twist of the thumbwheel the string is locked into the post. Just a few turns of the tuner knob and you're up to pitch. Since there's just a partial wrap of string around the post, tuning stability is dramatically improved. Locking tuners are excellent for non-locking tremolo guitars, and for players that do heavy string-bending.
Rock Solid™ string posts eliminate looseness and reduce backlash for improved tuning stability. No more wobbly string posts to cause tuning problems. Two post heights eliminate the need for string trees.
The Lubri-Coat™ process electro-coats the gears with a special polymer layer. This eliminates the need for oil and keeps the lubrication where it's needed, for the life of the tuner.

These tuners were definitely an upgrade over the stock Revstar II tuners. They are very good. Will be keeping these.

Silky smooth action, precise tuning at 1:18 ratio and highest Japanese quality. I have these tuners on 2 of my 4 electrics and will purchase 2 more sets for sure.

278 grams vs 256 for the stock Gretsch tuners. Neck dive isn't something I worry about, but these are 22 grams heavier. They're easy to install, work well with no backlash and look great. I'd say I'll buy them again, but I'm out of guitars.

These are the best locking tuners that I’ve ever used. It was a simple drop in installation on my beloved Gibson Hummingbird to replace the crappy Grover tuning heads that’s the guitar originally came with. Makes such a difference as the guitar is always in tune, let alone string changes now take less than 15 minutes, Without getting poked in the finger and bleeding.

Gave 5 stars across the board before knowing for sure. Leaving this for anyone looking to replace the crap Grover tuners that come with the Epiphone Dot. These fit perfectly. The backside screws are minutely larger which makes for a very secure install with no need for any alteration of any kind. Will revisit this review after I've spent some time with them.

Wow. Not only are these tuning machines solid, they changed the tone on my old Yamaha SJ 400 from a pretty nice sounding 1980's intermediate priced acoustic guitar into a different guitar I swear it sounds exactly like the hand-made Yamaha John Denver use to play. The first strum after the initial tune brought a big smile to my face, I wasn't expecting the tone and the tight response.I have no reservations about recommending these tuning machines to anyone.Gotoh locking tuners are the best I've ever owned and I've had over 50 different guitars over the years. I'll be putting a set of these on my 335 in short order. BTW I never throw away the old tuning machines because I might keel over and some purist will try to cheat my wife out of what a guitar is actually worth. On the Yamaha SJ 400 it's not in that category but it's my favorite guitar, and now I like it even better.

The posts on these are very short, about half the height of a standard tuner post because you're not intended to wrap the string around the post.There were no packing materials with this that related to the product, they were simply packed in a clear plastic bag. That meant zero installation instructions or details on how to use the product. Luckily though they are easy to install and these were a direct fit replacement for other Gotoh style tuners so I knew they would fit.When you change strings, align the tuner so the string can be fed straight through, pull some tension on the string and then tighten the locking wheel. You can then tune to pitch. Once the strings are stretched these offer great tuning stability.
