The only thing I like about these tuners are the string locking feature and the color. The gear mechanism in these tuners has a lot of play. It actually sucks. The stock Schecter tuners are much better in that area. I would/should have returned them but I installed them prior to realizing this issue. I had to elongate the screw hole on the tuners with a small dremel, they didn't align well with the stock screw holes. I was expecting a better quality product. I advise looking into other brands.

Put these on my Japanese Edward’s Les Paul. They fit great, as they were an exact fit. Look much better than the stock gold non locking tuners.

I've just started replacing some old tuners on guitars with locking tuners, and I started with the go-to (pun intended) brand for locking tuners - Gotoh. These are synonymous with locking tuners for a reason. They work, and they work well.I replaced some Epiphone-brand tuners on an older Epiphone SG with these, and they feel so much better. The ratio on these are tight, and they just feel so much sturdier. These were a direct drop-in on my SG, but you will want to check to see what diameter your tuning holes are before buying.Highly recommend Gotoh locking tuners for your guitar. I've bought several more sets for my other guitars, and will always go with locking tuners in the future. Makes string changes so much easier, and tuning instability is a thing of the past.

I had to do a lot of research to arrive at this choice, but it was worth it.If you’re looking at locking tuners, you need to know that some use thumbscrews and others auto lock as you turn the tuning key. The manual ones make more sense to me, but they are not as popular. These Gotoh Magnum Lock are manual, which is exactly what I was looking for. However, some products from Gotoh with a similar name are not manual lock. Some people will tell you locking tuners are a waste on acoustic guitars. This is wrong. If you string them correctly by putting some tension on the string and locking them down with the thumbscrew before you use the tuning key to tighten up the string, the tension of the string will pull cleanly against the opening in the post, rather than a combination of string and post - which introduces variables. It makes a difference. It’s not about holding a tune or making restringing easier. You get a more focused hold on the string. You also get a finer tuning adjustment (over many stock tuners) with these tuners, which makes it easy to nail your tuning rather than chase it back and forth.I put these on a FG800 Yamaha acoustic that I really love for its balance of bass and clarity for strumming/picking when strung with phosphor bronze strings. (I strum and pick with thumb, thumbnail and fingers.) These tuners drop right in to the headstock of FG series Yamaha acoustics, and no screwing or modifications are needed. (Indeed, the original tuners appear to have been made by Gotoh as well.)A nice bonus is that these tuners look great in black, on a black guitar. Even better - black acoustic phosphor bronze strings. It would be cool if Gotoh could really make these where every single part is black, but it’s all black on the front of the headstock, and that’s what counts.
