I have had no luck with any of the various mole/gopher branded products from the box stores. I also tried the scissor style trap but it never got triggered. I finally eliminated my first mole thanks to the gopherhawk. This creature has been destroying my lawn for weeks, and now I feel confident that I can stop the next one much earlier. I put one right in the spot where the mole pushed up dirt to the surface and I put a 2nd one on the same trail around where it began. Only using one would not give me confidence that I picked the right spot to set it. This tunnel was not very deep at all and I wondered if I had it set correctly. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the trap had been triggered a few days later.

I have used a lot of gopher traps in the last 20 years, these are at the top of the list for ease of setting. I have an advantage of my Border Collie sniffing out the gophers, digging out the tunnel then she moves away. I drop back about 1 foot to pinpoint the tunnel, use my drill with an auger bit, set the trap and come back tomorrow. Tada, dead gopher! If you have predators around, tie the trap to a tent stake or you will be buying more.

These have become my favorite traps, the quick and easy to set, especially when the soil is a little soft after a rain. Last year I caught about 40 gophers and moles, with a majority from the Gopher Hawks. One unanticipated issue was my traps kept disappearing. I finally figured out that the raccoons were harvesting the gophers overnight sometimes taking a traps. I've had a couple messy kills where a gophers leg was caught in the trap and needed to be dispatched ; in the attached photo, the raccoon took care of that for me this time. If you find traps are disappearing, tie them down with a string and a stake.

It does work extraordinarily well. But it took me a bit to figure out after looking at several videos on youtube. No instructions. Recommend you buy the one that comes with the wedge. I would for sure buy again. Way easier than any other method I’ve tried.

If you have problems with gophers this is a miracle. Works all the time. We have tried little traps, we've tried baits, we're tried every dumb trick on the internet. This thing is perfect and works. Only caveats: 1) ours did not come with instructions and I couldn't find any. I messed it up at first not knowing how to pop the trap once I set it. You just hit it against a surface and that pops the spring, but they don't tell you, so I stuck a pen in and the pen exploded and the trap mechanism shattered. 2) The trap is set by an enormously powerful spring attached for a very delicate trigger mechanism. DO NOT EVER put your fingers near the trigger mechanism, it will take your hand off. They don't adequately label or warn this -- a child, or stupid adult (like me) could put their finger in to see how the trap is triggered and that would be a disastrous mistake. Plus, if the trigger mechanism is set off with a pen or other object, it twists all out of shape. So -- a fantastic product but it needs some additional labeling, warning, and instructions.

This is the only tool I've found that actually catches gophers. You need to find the tunnel. Clean it out good so it's open to the air. This attracts the gopher - they don't like open tunnels. The gopher will come out to do its housekeeping and *snap*!I can usually tell when it's going to work. Fresh mound, nice clean open tunnel, trap loosely in the tunnel - don't plug it, or the gopher will not be attracted.I had one like this - nice fresh mound, clean tunnel, trap loosely set. Came out the next day and both gopher and trap were gone! My only guess is one of the hawks & buzzards that fly these hills noticed the struggling gopher - and just swooped down and took it away - trap & all.

Very good for small garden, when you have few 'visitors'. For large "invasions" taking ages to cleaning. Buying more - too expensive play. You must wait even 24 hours for results. But for prevention best "tool" I ever had.

Works very well, I bought one and 2 set of trap lines as I was not sure which would work best as I have never trapped gopher before. I was successful with both systems, the trap-lines is more work to install as you have to dig and set 2 traps in the main tunnel opposite direction, the GopherHawk is easier to use and works well, to find the main tunnel I use a long thing screwdriver filed into a point and then use a 1" copper pipe to dig the hole amd move it around to enlarge it as it seems to work better with the ground I have, I caught 3 gophers with the trapline (2 sets) and 2 gophers with the Nighthawk, I was very impressed with the ease of using the nighthawk that I bought 3 more. we were infested with gophers on our property and was not sure how to deal with it. So far so good after a total of 11 gophers caught I am not seeing anymore activity. But I am sure others will come as we are surrounded with farms and a lot of gophers activity enev on the dirt road. This is my second review I try, the first review I posted a picture with a gopher caught but it was rejected. Both systems work very well, you have to make sure to be in the main tunnel not the branches they create to feed

Decent product. Main part should last awhile if not abused. The strap is whimpy and there is a learning curve to setting it without bending the straps. Just have to train yourself not to push down as you pull the body of the trap up to set it. Works good in soft ground. If you have a dry year and ground is hard it’s not gonna work real well on its own. Would have to pound something the same diameter into the ground to use it as plastic on the probe isn’t made for pounding into the hard ground. Works good in deeper tunnels but in shallow mole tunnels it falls over as it requires support. I think it’s a good trap in its place but not a great all around trap for all conditions like other traps I use daily. I trap moles and other wildlife for a living so I use different traps daily. This is a good trap in certain situations but there’s better options for all around use traps.

I was skeptical having tried multiple products to get rid of moles tearing up the lawn. I found that it is quite easy to just dig a small hole in front of the mole hole tunnel and then place this device in the ground. Within 45 min to 1 day it catches the mole and can be easily disposed of. Only product i have found to work this well !

Works perfectly. Easy to use, reliable dispatch and no touch disposal. Only thing is the gopher can pull it down the hole so just tie a string on it and secure it for retrieval. Someone stole mine so there is that. Have to order another one.

I purchased this for my vole problem and suddenly there are none. It seems to be great quality and I will update my review upon their eventual return.
