The peg was not tapered and slightly larger than original. Had to drill existing hole just a wee bit wider. Worked perfect for me

Ok, out of the box it did not fit my banjo. But when I went to return it, the seller refunded me without a return, so now I just have a tuner that doesn't fit.So..... I took it out to the shop and with a angle grinder, I shaped it to fit the hole on my banjo and now it works for me.

Was a little larger than expected, took some extra work and one might damage the wood on the neck putting it in if not skilled at it. Tuner works fine.

Works good. The mounting taper is bigger than others, I think it maybe what metric banjos are reamed for, so be aware of that.

it was a little too big for the hole, but i don't think there are different sizes. anyhow, too big is better than too small because it was easy to bore the hole out a tiny bit and all is good

This peg had a different taper than the one I was replacing so went at it with some digital calipers on the tapered, friction-fit piece since none were provided. My calipers go down to the tenth of a millimeter.diameter of small end ~ 9mmdiameter of large end ~ 9.5mmlength of edge of the tapered piece ~ 9mmWhich gives it a small angle of ~ 1.6 degrees. Hopefully this helps someone out.As far as the quality of the machine goes it's pretty good, definitely for the price. The gears operate smoothly in both directions and the 10:1 ratio is correct.

I had to replace a missing 5th string tuning peg on an old banjo. This replacement was inexpensive, but the machine is smooth, easy to work with, and once I got the string on, it stayed in tune. Great replacement part for anyone looking to replace their 5tg string peg with a geared tuning machine.

Needed a 5th string tuner for a banjo repair project. This worked great. Very solid and fit into existing gear hole with a little careful pounding to put it in solid (use a rubber mallet). This is a perfect replacement tuner for 5th string of a banjo.
