This is a malleable diffuser to detract from the harshness of light coming from a separate light source of attachable flash. At first I was surprised that it was collapsible and squishy expecting more of a solid build. However, the shape allows it to be transported. I like Godox as a brand and am curious if it goes under any other names. I like this attachment, however I do lack an external flash so I can't comment on that particular utility. But attached to an external source I like the softness of the light it provides.

The Godox ML-CS1625 portable Softbox Kit represents another versatile and useful light modifier from a serious player in the photographic and video equipment industry; and for my part, a trusted one. I own a good amount Godox lighting equipment and accessories.The Diffuser softbox Kit includes the softbox and three adapters including one for use on Godoxs’ rectangular flash heads, like their 860III speedlight, a round head adapter for use on their AD100 and 200’s, and another to fit the softbox to their video lights and AD300 and 400 strobe heads. The adapters are made from a hard plastic and are pushed into or pulled out of a silicone lip on the rear of the softbox. The rectangular adapter includes an adjustable clamp with rubber surfaces to prevent marring that to which it’s clamped.In its compressed state, the softbox measures 9-7/8 x 6-5/8 and without an adapter, has a breadth of 1-3/8”. It weighs about 251 gr., or just under nine ounces. Except for the front diffuser, that is a firm, stiff plastic, it is made entirely from flexible silicone rubber.In terms of its light output, in comparison to the unmodified flash head of the 860III speedlight being used for the included pictures, it softens the hard edges of the shadows and brings down the overall contrast, both of which contribute to a more pleasing lighting effect. These effects can be observed most notably by comparing the highlights on the top of the figure and the delineation of the figure from the shadows on the right sides; note a clear delineation when using the modified light as compared to the unmodified light.Although I haven’t tested it yet outside, my guess is that the softbox would make a versatile fill light, even in heavily backlit situations. An of course it can be bounced as a means to soften it further or reduce its effect. One of the images I’ve included, the horizontal on, shows the flash head and modifier turned straight up to bounce it off the ceiling. In this case a clear delineation of light and shadow can be seen on the background behind the figure. This is projected by the seam between the rectangular portion of the diffuser and the inclined portion that slopes to the light source. In one sense it adds interest to the background without a noticeable effect on the figure, but in others it may be something to take into consideration.Given its portability, compactness and relatively low cost, the Godox Diffuser Softbox Kit is handy to have on hand. It takes seconds to set up and tear down, and can be used in a number of different configurations to provide a pleasing light source. With some experimentation, a complete methodology could be built around it that can eliminate the need to transport heavier, more complicated equipment.

I’ve only had this diffuser about a week and a half and I am using it in so many ways. I really like how it gives the “scrim” diffused look to your subject. The diffuser is made nicely and I like that it gives you three connection options. I’ve used two of the ring connectors so far and they are easy to swap out. The ring connectors “lock” onto your flash so you don’t have to worry about it falling off.I did try using it with the flash on my camera’s hot shoe. I really didn’t like that approach because it’s kind of bulky to maneuver. However, I did like using it off camera. The diffuser really “tames” the highlights and gives a smoother finish to your photo. It collapses down for storage, and it’s very convenient to use. For “on the go” photography where you don’t want to carry a big softbox, this is an awesome alternative for softer lighting at a reasonable price.

I have loved using my 860 on my sony for quite some time but have had times where i wish i could soften the light with a large box to even out the spread a bit more. This thing by godox does just that in a small enough for factor to fit in a backpack which makes it infinitely more useable. Its a great little collapsible device that attaches nicely to many different godox flashes the heads are included in the packaging which is nice in case you may have the larger flashes though i expect the modifier for those will likely need to be larger it is nice to have in a pinch!The material is nice and white and seems like it will be easy to clean and hold up better than many of the fabric ones i used before so i am excited to get a lot of life out of this

I know what model of flash this modifier is for, but it fit on mine so I’m not necessarily very worried about that. My flash has a built-in diffuser, but it’s not very good so I was looking for something that would fit on it without having to be taped down. I haven’t had an item like this before, so I did have to do some fiddling to figure out how to make this work with my flash, but I am very pleased with the result, and I thought put the whole thing together was still pretty easy all things considered. It works exactly like I need it too while I’m doing my thing! I also noticed that I barely add any way to my device so I am going to go ahead and preliminarily say this was a solid find.
