I'm not a regular macro shooter, but I was looking for a way to better light my shots when I do delve into macro work. This little kit is a great value. Lighting from the ring light seems to be even with 11 stops (1/1 down to 1/32 in half-stop increments). The buttons are well-marked and easy to use. The hot shoe mount works with a variety of cameras, including my Panasonic (G9). Build quality seems very good (it is all plastic, but that is not unusual for this kind of rig, and the plastic is decent quality). My frustrations/disappointments are few. First, the unit is powered by 4 AA batteries. While battery life seems to be pretty good (~100 flashes so far and going strong), there is no good way to monitor remaining battery life, and rechargeable battery would have made this unit so much nicer. The use of AAs makes the unit heavier than it would otherwise need to be. Second, the cable from the main unit to the ring light is hard-wired. A removeable cable would have been nicer in the off chance you damage the cable. The mounting rings don't cover all lens sizes. In fact, the smallest size is 49mm, and many of my mirrorless lenses are smaller than that. I wish they had included some smaller sizes. And finally, there is no case included to easily store the unit with all of the mounting rings, so it would be very easy to misplace the rings. For the price, I can easily overlook the shortcomings of this unit. It provides great macro lighting at a low price, making this ideal for those who only shoot macro occasionally -- or for those just getting started with macro.

Works great with my Canon EOS M6 Mark II, using my Canon EF 100mm IS USM macro lens (67mm in diameter). I'm not sure why Canon sells ring flashes for $600 when this one works great and is compatible for

the flash is pretty powerful n wish it had lower power setting. even the lowest setting can flatten the image especially while using close up lens . probably u can use it as a portrait flash if u know what u r doing . n one warning is that dont choose this flash if ur lens has rotating front focusing elements because the flash attached to the front of the lens on the filter thread

This one was a flash light as compared to simple ring lights that are on always on mode. Fit was perfect with the adaptors. Only flaw appears to be that battery runs out earlier than is quoted.

Can’t say much about quality of this compared to other brands because I’ve never used a ring flash before. But I got it attached to my Canon Rebel t4i and it works as it should and flashes automatically when I take my photo. :)

If you're into macro photography, then you know how important good lighting is to make your shots look amazing. And that's where the Godox ML150II comes in! This ring flash is like the halo of light that will make your subjects shine brighter than a saint on Easter Sunday.First things first, let's talk about the design. The Godox ML150II has a circular shape that fits around your lens, which means that the light will come from the same direction as your camera. This makes for a really soft, even light that eliminates harsh shadows and creates a natural-looking effect. But the real magic happens when you turn on the Godox ML150II. This bad boy has a guide number of 12, which means that it's powerful enough to light up even the smallest details in your macro shots. And with a color temperature of 5800K±200K, you can be sure that your photos will have a natural-looking color balance. One of the coolest features of the Godox ML150II is that it has two different modes: manual and TTL. In manual mode, you have full control over the power output of the flash, which is great for when you want to experiment with different lighting setups. And in TTL mode, the flash will automatically adjust its output based on the ambient light, which makes it super easy to use.And let's not forget about compatibility! The Godox ML150II works with a wide range of cameras, including Fuji, Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus. So no matter what camera you have, you can be sure that the Godox ML150II will work with it like a charm.Overall, I'd say that the Godox ML150II is a must-have for anyone who's serious about macro photography. With its powerful output, even lighting, and easy-to-use features, this light ring will make your photos look like they were taken by an angel. So go ahead, get yourself a Godox ML150II and watch your macro shots soar to new heights!

I have several vintage lenses that I use for macro photography. With macro you absolutely need a flash. There is never enough light at that magnification level to get a well exposed image. My old Pentax macro strobe I got damaged during a shoot. It cost well over $400 as do most ring strobes.I didn’t wanna invest in another expensive strobe I don’t do macro for revenue. It’s a hobby. And photography is expensive enough as it is. I tried several cheaper options a few of the LED ring lights and some of the devices that convert at normal speed light into a ring light but they are bulky and awkward to use. The LED ring lights never output enough light. This thing here is a godsend for macro photographers. You get a genuine strobe ring light at an LED price. This thing is bare-bones simple but you don’t really need anything else. Macro photography has always been a manual endeavor. My one criticism is that it uses the old style power unit that uses four AAs instead of a lithium ion rechargeable. I use the lithium AA batteries which gives me a little more juice. And it’s maximum setting I think the flash could be a little bit brighter but all things considered and the price this represents a fantastic value.
