Keepsafe® Expansion Gates with their patented design prevents pinch points and choke points without any plastic coverings. This eliminates injury from chipped, broken or chewed off plastic. The pivot points are designed to allow maximum expansion without exceeding J.P.M.A. certification specifications. Extra tall height varies from 33" fully closed to 30½" fully extended. It attaches at four points and is hinged to swing 180 degrees to allow unobstructed use of the opening, collapsing to the industries' narrowest gate, when not in use. Industry exclusive center-mounted leg makes the gate sturdy even when fully extended and its rubber stop prevents damage to the floor. One hand latching and unlatching makes for ease of use. (Installation involves only four #6 Phillips screws and two-eyelets. All mounting hardware is included.)

Purchased 36" and 60" gates to restrict pets. I needed something that would swing out of the way without bars or rails going across the doorway. And the cats can squeeze beneath it to dodge the dogs.Installation was quick, and they've held up nicely so far. The gate does "bow" when you push against it, so I don't believe it could withstand a larger child hanging on or pushing against it.The spring latch gives me fits. I guess it was designed to be child resistant. Push the plastic button on top to force the pin downward to clear a gap in the latch. Move the gap over the eyelet screwed into the doorway and release the button so the pin is inside the eyelet. Sounds simple, right? You can not do this one-handed because gripping the latch top and bottom with one hand to squeeze the button pushes the bottom of the pin against your finger instead, preventing it from clearing the gap.If I'm lucky, I can do it once in a while on the 36" gate, but the 60" gate wobbles too much. You need to hold the edge of the gate steady if you want to keep the bottom hook in the bottom eyelet while pushing the spring to get around the upper eyelet. It's so bad, we frequently step over the gate to avoid the whole process.I'll be disabling the spring latch and screwing a basic steel hook into its place.

I'm sorry I forgot to leave my review on this gate when I bought it , but this is TRULY a 5 Star Gate and here's why , We purchased this Gate 2 years ago , and while the first gate had some slight damage, the Company gave us the BEST customer service I have seen from anyone ! Not only did they help us out , they also insisted on replacing our gate and making sure we were totally satisfied with the replacement! Now for the best part - 2 YEARS later and this gate is STILL working and performing just as it did from day ONE !! We use it to keep our aging Pit Bull baby from trying to climb our 2nd floor stairs when we're not there to aid her . Let me tell you this gate gets used NON STOP and believe me when I say it's used A LOT ! We can honestly say you will have this gate for years ! PS. (the only tiny issue and its nothing to us , is the locking button is a little hard for us to use ,so we don't use it often - we use 2 eye hooks instead)

I was initially very pleased with this purchase, we installed it at the top of our steps. It's only been there for about 2 weeks and has been working beautifully. After very little use, I found last night that an entire top portion of the gate was snapped off. I am pretty upset, because I drilled holes in my floor thinking this was a long term solution. I guess not! Don't waste your time or money on this thing. I'm contacting their customer service directly to discuss a refund.UPDATE: I recently had the pleasure of working with the company to figure out how to get a replacement. I emailed yesterday afternoon and got a response VERY quickly and was told it would be forwarded on to someone who could help me. It happened to be the President and CEO Doug Gessford. I was highly impressed! He asked for the invoice, serial number and some photos of the damage. I sent that info and he responded within hours, asking some clarifying questions. He was also VERY sure to ask me to take the gate down for fear my son may be injured if we continued to use it. He was incredibly friendly and helpful, I honestly can't get over how easy he was to work with. In my last email with him, he kindly asked me to destroy the gate, so no one attempts to use it, and informed me that UPS would have a new gate to me ASAP all free of charge. He even tossed in an extra mounting kit for us so we can use the gate on two doorways that are adjoining (which is why I purchased this gate to begin with, but now we'll have extra hardware, yippee!). I am floored by the level of customer service and WILL shop with them again, based on this experience alone!!

I have bought 3 of these gates in the last year. 2 of the gates are great. The 3rd one has a missing rivet in the metal piece at the bottom of the gate that connects to the eye hook in the wall. The gate is useless because it is totally unsafe for a child. The company needs to send me another gate. But remember, I do like the 2 working gates.

I looked at other gates that were heavy, had awkward tension latches, or were not compact. I selected this one. You do have to drill holes where needed. For us Mr. Fix-its, it can easily be adapted for different situations. I used two of them to make a double gate for the kitchen, replacing one of the latches with eye bolts at the top and bottom of the post. I attached a length of light chain (you could use cord) between the two posts of each gate so that the gates wouldn't expand beyond the desired width when they come together at the center of the entrance way.I did receive one gate with the rivet driven right through the metal of the center leg. *sigh* But I just drilled out the rivet, flattened the metal back into the unwanted hole, and put a bolt in the proper slot. Fortunately the wood slat was not damaged. (Who inspects these things!) I have to admit that I actually enjoyed fixing it. The other two gates were fine.

Installed at the base of my stairs so my son can't climb up them. Needed something that worked in limited space and was more convenient than a sliding gate that has to be adjusted every time. It's easy to use and good quality though my genius Sister-In-Law can't seem to figure out the latch. My wife and I have no issues. When opening the gate, be sure that your child isn't holding on to it or they could get pinched. Haven't had the issue but figured I'd mention it. Just common sense when using an accordion style gate.
