Why GloFish?

GloFish fluorescent fish add brilliant color to any home, office, or classroom aquarium. These fun fish have the unique ability to absorb light and then re-emit it, creating the perception that they are glowing.

What are GloFish?

GloFish were originally bred to help scientists in detecting environmental pollutants. By adding a naturally derived fluorescence gene to the fish, scientists hoped to quickly and easily determine when a waterway was contaminated. Scientists soon realized the public’s interest in sharing the benefits of this research and GloFish were officially brought into the marketplace.

GloFish acquire their fluorescent color via a fluorescent protein gene that they inherit from their parents and pass on to their offspring through traditional breeding. Because of this, each line of GloFish originates from a single fish. For example, all Starfish Red Danios are descended from a single red fluorescent zebrafish.

3 Species in 6 Stunning Colors

GloFish are available in 3 species: GloFish Danio, GloFish Barb, and GloFish Tetra. Aside from their brighter disposition, each species is identical to their non-fluorescent counterparts. This includes everything from general care and temperature preferences, to growth and nutritional needs.

GloFish come in six stunning fluorescent colors including Starfire Red, Sunburst Orange, Electric Green, Cosmic Blue, Galactic Purple, and Moonrise Pink.

I bought the black rocks. They are colored so the black comes off. Would not buy again.

Used as the base for a Star Wars terrarium. Works very well for drainage. No issues with color-loss after draining.

I wanted something to use in my built in brick planter at my front door. I bought two metal blue and copper colored agave sculptures for that space, and got tired of pulling weeds out of the planter box. These black gravel look amazing with the copper agave plants at my front door. So sleek and modern!

I bought the solid black for a smaller tank. When my 7 year old goldfish got BIG I got them a 55g aquarium. I didn’t want solid black in such a larger area so I mixed it with black and neon gravel as seen in the photos. The black has remained solid black, it hasn’t lost any color. Very good quality gravel.

These are good enough for me, but there are a lot of chipped rocks that have grey, orange, and other colored spots showing through/under the paint. I'm assuming the orange is from another batch of rocks that were painted over in black or something. The really bad onces were easy enough to pick out when I washed the gravel,.but just beware. Also, lots of very fine pebbles are mixed in, so if you use a bottom filter or are worried your fish will think they're food, you'll definitely want to sieve the small pebbles out before adding this to your tank.

They’re the perfect size and much darker and more natural looking than a bag I’d purchased from my local fish store.

This is terrible quality black dyed gravel. It breaks apart very easily and crumbles into tiny pieces and despite rinsing it, my fish started dying a while after placing it in their tank. After removing them 3 out of five died and suffered in the process. Totally toxic and unsafe.
