They look great and function okay… a couple problems with it though… when I hit forward on my transmitter it goes in reverse and visa versa. Also it doesn’t sound as smooth anymore it sounds like something is about to rattle out and doesn’t go nearly as quick as the stock axels do.

First I will address one of the above reviews.1) When you install portal axles the gears in the portals will cause your RC to go in reverse for forward and forward for reverse. This happens when going from regular axles to portal axles with ALL portal axles. You can change directions on the remote sometimes, but the best way to do it is to swap the positive and negative connectors from the motor to the ESC. This will reverse the motor direction to correct the effect of the portal axle gears. You might also be able to flip the power connector that goes to the receiver, but remember the positive and negative wires need to be reversed for the motor to turn the opposite direction and some power plugs have a 3rd wire that does not allow you to just flip the plug over to reverse the motor.2) The metal gears will make more noise than plastic gears and the metal portal gears will make some noise too, that is perfectly normal.3) The gearing in portals will make your RC slower. It is like reducing gears in the transmission to give the RC more torque and crawl better and is normal for portal axles. If you don't like your top speed after the upgrade I would suggest a motor upgrade or you can change the gears in your transmission to speed it up again. The faster gears will not have as much torque for crawling though, so I recommend a motor upgrade. That said these are really well built, machined aluminum axles. The extra width they provide will make your RC more stable and a lot less likely to flip while crawling. They are easy to install and come with all the hardware you will need. A nice addition is the hardware for upright and laydown servo placement. I personally like the look of the laydown servo because it looks like the steering set up for my Jeep. The portals give you nice clearance and the gear reduction add a good amount of torque for crawling and these little motors need all the torque they can get. I have a sensored brushless motor that will go in the crawler for more speed, torque and a fantastic slow crawl. It will pair perfectly with these axles. These axles look great! They add a little WOW factor to my crawler that it needed.

The red and gold is a look, and kind of amazing. The front one comes with steering linkage as well. Portal axles as well which give some more ground clearance, and the edges are brass so more weight. Axles are already in, so nothing extra to buy there.
