The check engine light on our 2011 Honda Ridgeline RTL came on. My scanner showed me that I had an EVAP System Leak Detected (Large Leak- P0455). The suggested solution was to either replace the gas cap or the Vapor Canister Purge Valve Assembly. Being that I had already replaced my gas cap a few months ago, I ordered this item which fixed the problem. It took approximately 30 minutes to install with a 10 mm socket/ratchet, a phillips and a standard screw driver, and channel lock pliers. No more check engine light.

Very happy with the whole purchase: item arrived very quickly, the old part and the one I am reviewing look identical and the new one fits perfectly into an Acura TL. Watched a YT video on how to replace it and it worked fairly well. Took me approximately 30 min as basically all parts were hard to remove due to the age of the vehicle. Installation was a breeze though! Error code P145C went away right away, the one re: tighten gas cap had to be reset manually. With labor I might have easily spent three times the amount I paid for this purge control valve at Amazon!

I like that it fixed the problem. Too bad the cheap knock offs don't work.

Buy genuine Honda part and save yourself the heartache of broken hope. After TWO knock off, cheap and failed purchases, not to mention hours of labor and DIY on other related issues ; I decided to try once more with a genuine Honda part. It worked and clear the Gas Cap/ Check Engine codes right away. It’s been 1500 miles since the swap and no warning light. This part also has Denso stamped on the body so rest assure it’s genuine. Don’t believe a part that cost 1/4 less can do the job if you value your sanity and your time.A repair shop quoted $950 to fix this common EVAP system issue. Go from least expensive and work your way up the ladder. First the gas cap, new one $15. Then this purge solenoid. Tried a couple of these that cost under $20 without success. Was thinking to go to the charcoal canister next but decided on this Honda genuine part because thew canister is under the car and it cost close to $200 used. Glad I did. Saved hundreds as they say....now that's happiness money CAN buy.

My 2011 Honda Pilot had "Check Fuel Cap" warning. Then after a week or 2, check engine light would came on and the check fuel cap warning would disappear. Then after couple of days, the check engine light would disappear, but the check fuel cap warning came back. I changed the fuel cap twice, once with a cheaper compatible and once with genuine Honda gas cap, and the problem continued and reoccured like never ended. I used my ODB code reader and retrieve a P0497 code. So I decided to take the car to a mechanics. He replaced the purge control solenoid valve for me ($300) and told me that the problem was fixed. The car ran fine without and warning for check engine light for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, the problem reappeared after that. Each time the check engine light came on, I took the car back to the same mechanics and he used his diag tool to check code, but he did not find anything wrong. I went back 3 times. What I found out the last time was that he used his diag tool to reset the engine code quickly and he did not spend time to recheck the solenoid. I suspected that the mechanics was trying to avoid to replace a potentially bad valve he put in before. Also, I took out the solenoid valve he replaced and I found that it's a Made-In-China part. Then I read some review that some people fixed the similar problem with a genuine honda part. So I decided to give it a shot and buy this one. It took some effort to replace it because the hose clamps were in an odd position. But let me tell you, it's worth every second I spent. WALA. the fuel cap warning and P0497 check engine code has not come back for 2 months after I replaced it.
