Part installed fine on my Forester. The old one was filled with oil and the old rubber was very hard to remove, even with two guys trying to pull it off. You might want to find the rubber part to replace and just cut it off to save yourself the trouble.

I wish Amazon would still have in stock the PVC Hose Vacuum Part Number: 99071AD96A

Replaced the old valve that was starting to clog. A clogged PCV can result in expensive repairs to gaskets and seals. Took about five minutes. I recommend replacing the hose at the same time because they can become hard and brittle.

Can confirm the PCV valve fits 2014 Forester 2.5L, although Amazon "garage" says it does not. Seems to be a genuine Subaru part and exact OEM replacement. Installed on 135,000mi that was using oil. You're going to want to get the hose too.

This is a critical maintenance on Subarus – actually on all cars but the Subarus seem to need more attention in this area. Perhaps the location of the valve has something to do with it. Failure to maintain these PCV valves will result in oil consumption or leakage. This is a direct replacement and takes just a few minutes to install as it is located right on the top of the engine underneath the intake manifold. As you can see in the photos, the hose from the intake manifold goes straight down to the PCV valve. Simply slide the clamp back on the hose (long needle-nosed pliers work well); remove the hose from the valve; replace the valve and then re-install the hose and clamp. Easy as can be.One note – the Amazon “parts fitting confirmation” program listed this as NOT fitting the 2015 Forester so I went directly to Subaru parts web site and checked the number, and Subaru does list this for that vehicle so I went ahead and ordered it. I believe that there was a part number change so that is probably why the Amazon listing was off. As a retired ASE certified mechanic, I can tell you that it (numbers changing) happens all of the time so I always check the vehicle manufacturers’ sites to confirm numbers. You should too!

This is indeed the genuine Subaru OEM PCV valve. Price was good, and installation wasn't bad. I'd highly recommend buying another hose (OEM part 99071AD96A), should cost $15-20. I had my Subaru for 7 years and 145k miles before replacing the PCV valve and by that point the rubber hose becomes so stiff (especially on the bottom, where it connects to the PCV valve) that it's pretty much impossible to get it off and put it back on the new valve without breaking it, it'll be rock hard and no longer flexible. But if you don't know that until you take everything apart you might be without a car for a number of days/weeks until your hose arrives!
