To start this did solve my PNRD123 not lighting up and now the doors unlock when you put it in parkBUT this part may not be a genuine GM part,But a bootlegged part in a gm boxI say this because of the markings on it ,the photo on the right is the old switch you can see the numbers clearly they are embossed in and the photo in the Advertisement is like this also But ,the other photo shows the new one ,some one has used a hot point tooland put the numbers on by hand ,you can picture some little old lady sitting with a hot iron melting in the numbers , it did come in a GM Box and it dose work but for how long ?????

I had shifting issues, hard bangs when backing up, I couldn't tell what gear I was in and my doors did not unlock in Park. My local repair shop replaced this switch about 24 months ago but unfortunately they sourced a jobber part locally and installed a Dorman switch #511-102 50044. This was a mistake as reading the reviews makes it clear that Dorman sells a piece of junk that is not long for this world. This is partly odd as the switch also said "Made in Taiwan" and not "China". The original AC Delco switch lasted 15 years and 300K kms. The Dorman switch with all of its fancy updates lasted just over a 1/10 of this time and about 8% of the mileage. I just finished installing this new AC Delco switch that came in a box that said it was a GM part. It also said "Made in Mexico" and not China. (Big sigh of relief....) Installing this AC Delco part was an instant fix to my latest recurring problems so the problem was clearly the Dorman switch failing. I drilled the rivets on the Dorman switch to see if I could see any reason for the premature failure and it looked clean and relatively pristine inside with no visible dirt or moisture. All I can conclude is that Dorman with their marginal commitment to quality simply builds a cheap switch that is marking time from the moment you get suckered into buying one and installing it. Run away! Buy this switch. It is also half the cost of what Dorman is charging so I bought two and put one on the shelf as the next one from AC Delco might not say "Made in Mexico".

Works perfectly for my 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LT 8.1L with Allison Transmission, easy install. These are a few things my truck was doing before I installed this part... My truck gear indicator was blinking, and not going into any gears, doors not unlocking when it was shifted into park. At times would work fine then next stop sign or red light it wouldn't go. Sometimes the transmission would slam into gear. This part fixed all those problems, hope this review helps others. Thanks for the great price and product.Update: Part Failed In August 2021 Lasted 2yrs Ordered another one!!Update: Part Failed Again April 2022 Lasted 7 months. Not ordering another. Went to parts store and got one cheaper with a warranty. I am checking to see if this is covered by a warranty and will update.

Installed this neutral safety switch on my 1997 Chev K1500 4x4 truck. Had to drop the drive shaft from the transfer case to the front diff. Factory wiring harnesses connected to the replacement part with no issues. Be sure to go slow when unplugging the wiring connectors. Mine were really tight. Also, have some vice grips ready to hold the shift arm bracket when loosening the nut that holds it on and be sure to put the arm back on the same way it came off :)After installing no more starting issues. BTW, I did check the starter relay and ignition switch before changing this component.

Bought this for my 03 Avalanche with the 4wd 4l60E it’s got the 7 & 4 pin plugs.Only difference I noticed from the OEM part is that the selector levers plastic housing isn’t squared/rectangular like the OEM part was. That said I made sure the trans was in neutral before I installed it (these switches come preselected in neutral) and had to use quite a bit of force to put it on but it’s been working with no issues.Minus one star because of the forceful install.

When it comes to safety and sensors, I always buy OEM grade replacement parts. This is no exception. Works perfectly. Be sure secure your vehicle first with wheel chocks in order to place your transmission in neutral for proper installation. Tip for the beginner, the metal bracket you see going through the center is only meant to hold it in place before you install over the shift selector shaft. If you have trouble removing the old one, try filing the end of the selector shaft where the 15mm nut goes on as tightening that at the factory often caused the end to mushroom out and be over-sized preventing removal and reinstallation. Also, the GM wiring harness for this plug was often glued in. Hit it with a heat gun to easily remove it but watch out, those connectors will be hot!

My truck (2000 GMC Sierra 1500 4.8L 2WD Automatic) was having an intermittent no start issue that had been persisting for months. My truck has 330,000 miles on it. Turns out, the neutral safety switch had worn out on the old unit and wasn't properly signalling the computer like it was suppose to. If I recall correctly, I only figured this issue out by chance. If you are having a no start issue even though you know you've got good power to the system. Try cranking in neutral or shifting the selector through the gears before going back to neutral. That's how I figured out I had a bad switch. When you mount this part, it has some adjustment to it in the mounting bracket. It's not hard to set it correctly. Just adjust it a little at a time until it shifts into every gear correctly.

First off, this switch comes with a metal alignment piece that keeps it aligned to neutral on the transmission. It is removed after the switch is installed.I had intermittent no start problems with my van. Occasionally when I try to start it, the dash lights would go off and then nothing happens. No sound at all. I realized that the same exact thing happens when I try to start the car with my auto trans in gear like drive or reverse. If I shifted through the gears on the trans a few times it started. I decided to replace this neutral safety switch or PNP switch(park neutral position) as its called in the factory service manual.First I put the transmission in neutral and applied the parking brakes. Using some freeze type nut removal spray I sprayed the nut for the metal plate on the center of the switch to loosen it up.Then with a 15mm socket I removed the nut without too much trouble. The metal plate will turn with the wrench so you need to hold it with something. The bottem part where the linkage cable connects to the metal plate just pops off.The two wire harness that is connected to the switch are glued in and would not simply seperate. Someone had said he used heat to soften up the glue.I simply used a screwdriver to "crowbar" and crack the plastic surrounding the harness as the old switch is headed for the trash anyway. The plastic is old and brittle so it was peeled off easily. Now I just removed the two remaining side bolts with a 13 mm socket and slid the switch out. Installing the new switch is just the reverse order.

made by ac/delco with all the quality you'd expect. purchased one from Advance Auto and when I put it on, it was so sloppy I thought it was my shift shaft worn from rust. I replaced my shift shaft which meant I had to drop my pan. Believe me when I say you must be very serious to replace a shift shaft your self on a 4l80e. Needless to say, after I replaced my shift shaft, the AA part was still sloppy. I asked to return it and they said it was a electronic part and there was no replacing it. I ordered the ac/delco part from amazon for about 50 dollars less than my dealer wanted for it. Exact fit, exact function. Very happy....
