This bulb size is apparently hard to find for whatever weird reason, but these did the trick. They came quickly and give off a nice bright, but soft light. Exactly what we needed.

These are GE and I bought the soft white 40 watt. I've only had them a week, but they are holding up, dim perfectly, and fit my ceiling fan. They are as bright and work as well as I expected. If they burn out quickly, as others have reported, I will come back and amend this review. But for now, they are the only solution for this stupid ceiling fan. We tried LED lights, but the fixture won't work with them; we're guessing it doesn't pull enough wattage with LEDs in.
