The product is well built. However, the one I got did not fit my 1 3/8 inch pipe--it would not tighten down securely because the threads stoped too early, so I bought some washers to make it fit. So, sellers, please address this issue. Another suggestion, the legs of the u shaped part is way longer than necessary, half that length would make it much easier to install.

12 foot steel ornamental driveway gate that started to drag. Propped up on a brick and installed this …offset to perpendicular. Worked like a champ. Attachment to squared frame member at bottom seems secure. I tried 2 other wheels designs from other vendors both times mounted perpendicular to direction of travel. Too much downward force. The offset actually seems to be less resistant to the gate driver motor so I’m happy about that which is why I bothered to review. Good design - 3 times is the charm. Hope someone learns from this experiment.

Got this for my Sister's big front gate, it's serving the purpose.But yes the u-bolt could be shorter, instead of stacking washers Iused a piece of square bar with a few holes to take up the slack.

This is my 2nd wheel, 1st one froze up and won't turn any longer after 5 years. Easy R&R, also fits smaller diameter tubing (1¼") without any problems.

Wrought Iron fence: I converted an 8-foot panel into a gate, and it was tough to open and close. The pole holding it was started to move in the soil due to the panel's weight. Finally, I found this wheel! It works great, and takes the weight off of the pole. I had to insert a piece of metal pipe to the round part of the U-bend bracket to make up for the lack of threads, but it works so well!!
