During assembly, there were a few of the bolts that weren't machined properly. Once in use, I've found it more difficult than other grills to maintain temperature. I'm new to smoking, but I'm an old hand at grilling. I've looked up several different tips & tricks and I still haven't been able to maintain proper cooking heat.

I ordered this product because I wanted to start smoking my own beef briskets and other meats. This product has very similar functionality, design and build quality as the original 18” Weber Smokey Mountain. I used the manual to assemble the device and found it very easy. You can find plenty of YouTube videos on how to use the product for smoking all kinds of meats by searching for Weber Smokey Mountain videos. My first use of the product was smoking a 15 lb beef brisket and it was a great success! My wife absolutely loved the flavor of the brisket I made. I was very pleased with the product and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is considering buying a Weber Smokey Mountain but want to spend less.

Up front assembly took a bit but it wasn't hard.Having never had a smoker before I didn't know what I was getting into or how to use it. I watched a few videos, picked up some wood pellets and first than wood chips and without really knowing much I went about smoking a rack of beef ribs and much of my reading indicated that was the safer, and easier, first level item to smoke and sure enough they came out GREAT! I was amazed it worked. I still want to play around more with other methods and meat cuts but it worked and for now I will take the small victories where I can and this smoker was a good start at a nice entry level price.

This barrel smoker and charcoal grill combo works great, it does require a lot of assembly but it was fairly easy to put it together, the overall quality is really decent, everything looks and feels well made and durable, the barrel has 3 section to it, the bottom charcoal section, the middle cooking/smoking section and the lid, the middle section has a single door that allows you to access the charcoal area and the lower smoker grill grate, the door opening is pretty large so it's easy to check or add charcoal and to check the food on the grill grate, the smoker also has a really good sized water bowl that can hold a lot of smoker wood chips, so your not having to add more chips all the time or having to worry about the water or chips drying out to fast, I also like that the unit has a few well placed air flow openings, so it keeps the charcoal burning nicely and it also has really nice even heating inside the barrel, one feature I really like is that this barrel smoker has lower and upper grill grates, so you can actually cook or smoke quite a bit of food, all in all I am super happy with the results I am getting out of the smoker/grill combo and for the price I thinks a pretty good value.

In the description of this item at one point it is referred to as a mini-smoker, which is hilarious considering it is chest high on me when all assembled. But in the realm of smokers I guess that is a mini. The smoker is actually very nice, much more heavy duty than I was expecting. Assembly was easy, just follow the pictures in the instructions. Even though I have very little experience with charcoal and wood chunk cooking, my son and I managed to smoke some very tasty turkey legs and a pork loin on our first attempt. The smoker has ventilation holes with sliding covers that allow you to adjust the heat and airflow. We are hoping to be able to use the smoker to make jerky after Fall hunting season. This smoker is a great option for anyone who wants to smoke food occasionally but can't afford one of the expensive name brand smokers.

Bought this because it was best deal (sale price + coupon) that I could find at the time, on a smoker that had the features I was looking for. I was really shocked at the prices bullet smokers have gotten up to. No moving parts-pans, grates, thin metal and they were pushing $400-$1000. So pro is definitely price and the fact that it gets the job done.Only real con would be cheaply made-real thin metal....thin/light screws/hangers/metal. Eventhough grates are normal- all other metal is light gauge. It's also a pro... this rusts through in a year or 2- I will just buy another and still have saved money.Couple of notes-I do like how big door is-but I hate that it's not hinged. Not sure how I like charcoal containment...other bullet smokers charcoal sits in a pan. This one charcoal sits on a grate allowing some wood chips to fall through. I can see good and bad to this design, its just different to me.On a side note-with all technology spoiling us I rigged up a wireless meat thermometer to help monitor temps from a distance. Temp gauge in dome was almost spot on-I just need to figure out how to mount one a little more permanently.
