Update:Maybe I was a bit too harsh in my original review. This camera does catch a lot of action. So the sensor is good. There is a 30 second delay after you turn it on, so you get a chance to get out of sight. Still, so many blurry images due to animals too close to the camera--by close I mean 10 feet.We have had other wildlife cameras before and still have an old one that works. I expected this one, being almost a decade newer, to perform on par with the old one, if not better. Well, the only thing better is the internal viewing screen, which my old camera doesn't have. It's easy to go through the menu items, set date and time, view photos on the SD card.So here are my biggest gripes:1. The delay capture after motion detection (in seconds) is defaulted to: 0, 5, 10. You'd think they let you set it at 1, 2, or 3 seconds!2. The camera doesn't like objects within 15 feet--everything closer than 15 feet comes out blurry. In fact, the manual advises you to place the camera 16 to 17 feet away (see page 15).3. I am not sure about night vision yet, but indoor photos seem mostly blurry. Ok, it was cloudy, but it wasn't dim because the lights were on. That tells me that the "shutter speed" (if there was a "shutter") is unacceptable.4. The viewing screen is great because you can go through the photos, but to navigate through the photos, you use the up-down arrows. The left arrow is "Delete"-some genius assigned the buttons. So, if you own this camera, it's safer to view the photos on your laptop, lest you accidentally hit that left arrow button.This camera could perform a little better, but for the price, I also could live the imperfections.

Update spring 2023I got this cam August 21, and used for 2 months, then again through summer 22.I got it out to set up for this summer and the belt that straps the camera to a support just disintegrated and fell apart in multiple places when I went to put the camera up. My hands were covered in dust! It makes the thing unusable unless I can figure another way to secure it.Update on battery use:The first set of Duracell alkaline batteries were finished (ie at half level) after 14 nights so replaced with Energiser lithium batteries but these have only lasted 13 nights. The lithium batteries cost more than twice as much so I'm very disappointed at the consumption rate.The camera stops recording at night once the batteries are half used according to the display, but will still record in daylight.I forgot to mention on the original review that the sound on the night recordings was poor - absent or buzzing.Original:I had to return a different cam (not GardePro) that was supposed to work with Wi-Fi but didn't. I looked at lots of reviews and chose this instead. I have had the cam for just over 3 weeks, using almost every night. I was concerned about a review that said the night video capture was limited to 30 sec bursts - but this isn't the case in fact. I set it to record 1 minute bursts at night between 8pm and 7am to view hedgehog activity in the garden.The cam was straightforward to set up with a menu and various options to select - including video/photo options, operating hours, sensitivity etc. I set the time delay to 0 secs but still find that hogs are settled in the middle of frame feeding by the time photo/video capture starts.The night-time images are quite clear if the camera is set up close to where they feed (about 2 m away) but I think the left side of the image isn't as clear as the right side. For viewing video just to see what is going on it probably is ok, but it might be an issue if you wanted detailed still images.The camera comes with a strap - but I found when I strapped it onto garden furniture to get the cam positioned at the right distance, it tended to tip forwards. There is a screw hole on the bottom, so I use that with a flexible tripod on a table and that has worked better.I used a 32gb card - it was filled after 18 nights taking 2 photos & 1 minute videos. I used Duracell alkaline batteries - they lasted a couple of weeks (cam operating limited hours over night and powered off during the day) and have since been replaced by lithium batteries (recommended in manual) so I will see how long these last instead.I have been downloading images & videos via the provided cable on a daily basis. The camera has captured hedgehogs, a cat, a mouse and a big slug! (And the magpies who come every morning to raid leftover hog food).The camera appears to be waterproof - despite rain and drizzle the inside of the cam has been dry each morning.Last night the cam somehow reset the date/time stamp to 1 Jan 21 so failed to record the scheduled hours. This was odd as the other settings were still there. Hopefully this was a one off - if not I will update this review.Overall, I would say this has been a successful purchase. It has run down alkaline batteries faster than I expected, & the detail on the left of the captured image could be more clear.The date/time glitch could be an issue if you wanted to leave a cam in situ for any extended period as losing that setting when it is scheduled to operate over particular hours means that it could end up operating at completely the wrong time of day.

When I opened the camera a small screw fell out and wont screw back in so that was dissappointing.

I have been using trail cameras to scout deer in MI since they had 35mm film in them, have always looked for a balance of quality and price. I do not need a camera to produce superb pictures I can blow up and frame for the wall, just need to accurately see what is happening in my area and have it be reliable in all conditions. I need a camera that performs as expected and is priced where I can get several and can count on them for 4-5 years of 5 months of typical conditions in the woods.I previously had been using Browning cameras with great success but recently they have gone up in price. I was looking for another option when I came across this one at Amazon. I was skeptical when it first arrived, so I set it up at home to test and was very impressed with the trigger and the distance it detected movement. In the first photo I attached, the subjects have bushes masking their movement and it still caught them in between. The distance to the fence is roughly 90 feet. It produced multiple shots like this over the course of an afternoon, even as the light faded. The other photos show examples of in field day/night time performance.I have placed my first GardePro A3 in the woods about a month ago and one thing I have learned is that these triggers are almost too sensitive. They easily detect long grass moving in the breeze and harsh changes in sunlight. I had to relocate accordingly. Fortunately there is a setting to change the sensitivity (low/medium/high). I left mine on high as I would rather it trigger too much than not when needed. These cameras also have side sensors which I think is a great idea to give the camera a chance to wake up as a subject approaches the field of vision for the lens. Night time shots seem to be good, with the occasional purple cast to the photo. I have not yet tried video. I will update when I get more results and opportunity to test all the settings/features.In summary, this is an excellent camera in terms of price, features and trigger sensitivity. I would recommend you give it a try. Daytime photos are excellent. Durability has not yet been determined and video testing has yet to be done.***UPDATE***One thing I have found is on the highest sensitivity settings you get a lot of false triggers/pics with no animal movement. I changed it to medium sensitivity and it works very well. I actually bought another one and they are the best cameras I have in use now. I am very impressed with the nighttime photos and the general trigger time of these cameras. Including a couple more photo examples.

Great value , haven't used in the field yet, but checked out the dogs nocturnal activity.

This Is A Truly Outstanding trailcam And Better than Most At twice the Price . There Seems To Be A lot Of Confusion Over The Field Of View. There Are 2. The Motion Sensor Is Either 60 Or 120 Degs With The Side Sensors On And The camera Lense FOV That's 63 Degs. That Causes A Telephoto Effect. So If You're Doing A Wide Target Area Move The Cam Back Some And Do A Detection Test. Both My Cameras Had The Video Problem ( A freeze Frame Picture & 30 Sec Audio About 60 % Of The time) . I Emailed Support & They Sent Me An Email With The New Firmware Update Attached. You download The Update , Drop It In An SD Card , Follow The Inst In The Email And You're Good To Go. The Update Also Added The Picture +Video Mode. The Picture & Video quality Is Outstanding . Its Crisp & Sharp. The IR LEDs vary In Output To Prevent Whiteout Which Is Great But If There Is A Close Reflecting Object Like A Tree In The Foreground The Rest Will Be Darker. This Cam Will light Up An Area 75 Ft Away Like High Noon In B+W Or Give Perfect Exposure On A Deer Face At 5 Ft With A Dark Background. The Cam Also Has A 3rd Mode At Dusk & Dawn. A Special Sensor & Sony Software Give Another 30 Mins Or So Of Extended Daylight Color Video. Not As Good As The Normal Day Vids But The A3s The Only One I Know Of With This Goody. Battery Life & Storage - The Over 3 Mon Standby Batt Life Is Fine But Unless You're Tracking Snow Lepards Or Bigfoot And Can Wait 3 Months Why. The Point Is With Most Every Goody It Is Low Use . On The Other Hand On 20MP & 1080 FHD Video It A Memory Hog. ( HD Takes Space) The Cam Will Take SD Cards Up To 128 Gig. However 8 AA Batteries Will Only Fill About 32 Gig (That's About 250-300 1Min HD Vids) If You Have It Set On A Feed Station Looking For That Special Buck That May Be About 4 Days. If You Want To Go To 64 Or 128 Gig Cards You Need An External 12V Battery And A Plug In That's 4MM (Yellow Tip) (Important - Do Not Get The 90 Deg Plug In - They Don't Go In Far Enough To Make Good Contact - Will Fall Out & You'll Be Un Happy. Also Put In The 8 Batteries - It Will Keep Your Presets During Trans And Is A Backup If Some Coon Pulls Your Power Plug. - Amazon Has The Stealthcam Battery Box Under "Batteries" And I Think It has A 4mm (Yellow Tip) Plug. I've Been Running 2 A3s 24/7 For The Last 3 Months I Just Ordered Another.
