A great replica from the 18th century, it has functioning parts and reminds of those often used by Victorian explorers and surveyors. Being small in size, its use as a fully working instrument is limited but it makes a great gift, decoration item as well as demonstrational piece. It has a built-in magnifier that can be swung into position to assist in reading the vernier scale. As a semi-functional instrument you are able to adjust the controls to determine the angle of a celestial object and horizon by viewing them simultaneously. Size:- Approx 9.5cm - L x 9.5cm - W x 6.5cm - H (Sextant). A free brass keyring is sent along as a gift.

Because the price was so reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised by the detail, size, and finish. Wonderful execution!

Product is Nice quality. However the packaging was poor only comes in a plastic wrap and the user manual was all cramped up and creased. It is a bit smaller than I thought but overall the craftsmanship is good

This sextant is a really neat coffee table discussion piece. It is definitely for decoration and not meant for practical use. It is obvious to see that the numbers and their tick marks were etched in with a vibro tool. If one buys this with the hope of using it, you may learn the basics of how to use a sextant, but not much else. The piece doesn't come with a beginner's manual that describes the use or the history of the sextant either. The design is really neat and it wouldn't take much to make the lock for the pivot of the scope to actually lock. Again, it is a cool piece for decoration, but I wouldn't recommend it if you wish to learn how to use a sextant.

Ventura is one of the best makers of sextant, so price relationship is good. On the other hand check the size always. I though the sextant was bigger.

Very nice item however the keychain was missing that was the deciding factor in my original purchase. Now, supposedly, due to this pandemic they just decided not to send the keychain as advertised.
