The size of engine oil drain valve is 12 millimeters - 1.25. Used to drain engine oil with the touch of a finger and eliminates stripped threads. It replaces drain plug for quick, easy, clean oil change. It is also ideal for drawing small sample of oil for oil analysis. Helps to avoid contact with hot oil and prevents hands and clothes from getting messed up.

Been using these valve on different card for +10 years. The only draw back is the longer time it takes to drain the oil (~20 minutes). On the plus side, you needn't worry about stripping the oil pan bolt (anymore), or getting splashed with hot oil.

*Update - This has been on my Toyota Tundra truck now for about a year and a half. Not a single drop of oil leaking. Working greatThis is my third Fumoto Valve. I like to change my own oil because I enjoy doing it and like to know that it was done right. My biggest fear while changing the oil is stripping the drain bolt. I got the Fumoto Valve, put it in once and never have to worry about stripping the bolt again. When it's time to change the oil, I just open up the valve and let the oil drain out. No wrenches, no crush washers, and no worries. One thing you should know is that the opening on this Fumoto Valve is much smaller than the oil pan drain hole. It takes about 3 times as long to drain the oil with this valve on. It's really not an issue for me. Prior to the oil change, I let the engine warm up so that the oil gets warm and flows easily. I then open the valve and while the oil is draining, I check and clean the air filter, change the oil filter, and check other fluids. When the oil is done draining out, just close the valve and you're ready to put new oil in. I read in forums that people are concerned that you may hit something on the road which would open the drain valve and let all the oil out. I guess that is a possibility, but I don't think it's likely. I've had these valves on two of my cars (three now) for the past 4 years and not one issue. I highly recommend it. It makes changing the oil so much easier.

Fits, and works, as advertised. Makes oil changes very easy and cleaner. After looking the locking mechanism over, I don't have any worries about it coming undone, at least where it mounts on my vehicle. The opening isn't as big as the drain hole on the oil pan, so the oil takes a bit longer to drain.I would recommend the model with the extended hose snout, with a piece of tubing you could change the oil on a windy day and not even need an oil pan (i.e. drain straight into a recycling jug)

The Good: No more messy spills! No more removal/install of drain plug with every oil change. No more replacement drain plug gaskets! No more risk of cross-threading or stripped drain plugs! No more dropped drain plugs in the drain pan! No more hot oil on your hands and fingers! The Bad: Oil drains out slowerThe Lowdown: The Fujimoto valve makes oil changes SO much easier and tidier, now both my Toyotas have one. If you do your own oil changes, then you'll truly understand the advantages of owning one. My garage floor loves me now!The oil does drain out slower, but who cares? Oh wait, those 10 minute oil change chains do.And for those who are worried about the valve opening on accident, don't be. The simple, yet effective lock lever prevents that. For peace of mind, you can add a 11/16" hose clip (found at hardware store), like I did as a security measure (since I do a lot of off-roading). Now, the lever cannot move at all without removing the hose clip first.

I've installed these drain valves on all my vehicles. They work as advertised and reduce oil change messes drastically! The oil flows a tad bit slower through the valve but it is a small price to pay not to get my hands covered in hot oil when performing oil changes. The valve also works great on my RV which requires six gallons of oil and requires two large drain pans to contain used oil. The valve is easy to operate and stops oil flow in an instant when needed. Cross-threading of the drain plug is also a thing of the past. Highly recommended!

The hole is pretty small, maybe 3/16"? Certainly less than 1/4". It'll take quite a while to drain if the oil isn't warm. Even warm it takes a while. Depending on the threads, the valve tower may wind up protruding downward making it more vulnerable. If so, you can try adding another sealing washer to get it to tighten at a different position. It tightens with a 17mm open end wrench which only fits on it pointing away from the tower. Depending on at what point it tightens and what's around it, you may not be able to get the wrench on it. A crow's foot attachment with an extension on a ratchet wrench might work in this case.

I do my own oil changes on all my vehicles every 5000km. This valve, I installed onto a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It was easy, nothing to it really. So, to drain the oil, I run the engine HOT, usually a trip of at least 20km. Place a pan under the car, lift and turn the valve lever and the oil drains out.I let it drain overnight as the orifice is only about 6mm diameter. I leave the bonnet open with a jug of oil on the engine, so that I won't just jump into the car and drive off without oil.I wish that they equip all cars with a valve like this, there's no mess. To close the valve, just turn in the opposite direction. There is another model with a swaged nipple, to attach a hose. It's a little longer, which means it'll stick out a little under the car. It's not too bad, attached to a vacuum, it drains the oil much faster.
